Molder

Instant

Destroy target artifact or enchantment with converted mana cost X. It can't be regenerated. You gain X life.

Silly-Go-Round on But I wanna play Hydras [Help Needed]

Stuff I'd consider in no particular order.

Nature's Lore

Voracious Hydra

Steelbane Hydra - this one in particular has what you're looking for in enchantment hate, but I'll have a section specifically for that too.

Curse of the Swine

Hydroid Krasis - a little above your price range, but a fantastic hydra.

Elementalist's Palette

Lifeblood Hydra - just under 10 bucks, definitely a solid upgrade.

Vorel of the Hull Clade

Evolution Sage

Death Denied

Three Visits

Skyshroud Claim

Explosive Vegetation

Exponential Growth

Greater Good

Unbound Flourishing

I'd also consider looking up all the different duals that show up in sultai and picking up some of the cheaper ones? I google "word for the color identity of the deck I'm playing and dual lands" and theres a few sites there generally with prices. Also going up like, 3/4 more lands since 33 seems slim and you don't have a lot of mana rocks/dorks to shore that up.

enchantment removal I've used/like/I think would be good here.

Krosan Grip

Gaze of Granite

Pest Infestation

Sultai Charm

Maelstrom Pulse

Molder

Windgrace's Judgment

As for stuff I'd cut.

Edge of Autumn - theres better ramp cards and I suggested a few above

Grow from the Ashes - see above

Font of Fertility - see above

Frontier Siege - this seems kinda medium if all were doing with it is adding 2 extra mana, I like that it's modal but you're never going to pick that mode since we don't have a lot of flyers in hydras.

Icy Blast - I see where you're coming from with this, and I think it could definitely put in work, but I also feel like theres probably either hard removal that you could play for the same amount of mana that would make this useful, or something similar.

Personally I'd also cut the counter spells for more stuff that draws/removes but I understand why they're here.

I hope this helps, sorry if it's long winded, and good luck with the list!!

Thanks for the suggestions Dublomon. I'm playing in a creature-heavy, aggressive meta, which is why I'm primarily using creature-based removal like Tin Street Hooligan over things like Smash to Smithereens . But I would definitely play either one of those cards over Smelt or Molder - it just takes you a bit over my strict $5 budget.

Oh I guess you mostly need to cut cards:

Ageless Entity is just a big fat boy, no evasion, no +1/+1 counter synergy. He doesn't do enough for 5 mana. Baneslayer Angel is kinda in the same boat. Gains some life, but not super resilient, and not a super fast clock. Exalted Angel falls under the same category of medium beaters. Probably Gisela, the Broken Blade too?

All 3 soul sisters should go, they're pure dedicated life gain with no other upside in a deck that already gains plenty of life. They might be good enough for Karlov that gets immediate value off of repeated small incremental life gain, but not for you.

Gifted Aetherborn no

Sangromancer is pure dedicated life gain on a medium body. I don't think much of it but it can situationally gain crazy life. I'd cut it but I can see the argument for it.

Siege Rhino maaaaaaaybe? If you intend to go full on tempo agro? Doesn't feel like an amazing strategy tho, and the deck feels more grindy than agro.

Quiet Disrepair this is a comically bad way to get rid of a problem artifact or enchantment, and some of those faster, more certain methods gain life anyway.

Leyline of Vitality is basically just a soul sister.

Maybe trim a few pieces of your more mediocre spot removal? Molder sticks out as pretty bad.

6 field sweeps seems a little high considering you kind of want your field to stick, and your recursion isn't super strong. Day of Judgment at least seems like it could go.

You got like 10 ways to kill artifacts/enchantments, so Fracturing Gust might be overkill.

A couple of mana doublers will definitely be in order. There are just several to choose from and I wasn't sure which ones to settle on yet. Taking a look at your list, I completely forgot about Warstorm Surge and Steel Hellkite. Those might just be more economical replacements for Mage Slayer and Molder.

I can definitely see the merit of having Wort as the commander, but I find Rosheen to be such a fun and flavorful card, I'll probably stick with her, even if Wort would be more powerful. Thanks for the feedback tough, I appreciate it!

Splashing green or red will improve the Affinity match up. Shatterstorm/Creeping Corrosion, Lightning Bolt, Naturalize, Shattering Spree, Vandalblast, By Force, Molder, Natural State.

Liliana of the Veil and adding Damnation back will improve the Eldrazitron match up. Though it can still be tough.

Thanks for the feedback! This deck is still very much a WIP, reflecting only what I currently have in physical paper and not what I necessarily would make in an ideal world. I'm working on obtaining some of the cards in the maybeboard, and then will take out the Plains, and replace the Lifespring Druid, Folk Medicine (as I agree they are too much investment for not enough payoff), and maybe most of the rest of the non-creature spells with cards like Timberwatch Elf, Presence of Gond, and perhaps something like Molder. I don't think I need Elvish Mystic because basically all of my cards are 3 mana or less... I don't really need much mana for this deck.

I've done some basic testing and aggressive mulligans are actually pretty legit here. Shrapnel Blast could be strong sideboard. Tunnel Ignus for those bloom titan knock-offs. Blinkmoth Well for when you just need to lock things down. Serum Powder for those aggressive mulligans. Charmbreaker Devils in place of hoard-smelter, perhaps. Mizzium Transreliquat to copy their pillow fort. Seal of Primordium for killing emrakul. Metallic Mastery for the lulz. Smash isn't strong enough. Tanglewalker is too situational. Vithian Renegades and Tin Street Hooligan are super fun. Molder could be good sb.

Predator's Rapport, Heal the Scars and Sheltering Word in case somebody can kill your enormous boss...

Molder, Squall Line and Strength of the Tajuru also. (Squall Line would be good to kill everybody if they manage to put you out)
