Leonin Skyhunter Discussion

FatherLiir on Brotherhood of Steel Pun

Please take my words with a grain of salt if you disagree as I don't play modern, but I've seen my fair share of modern decks.

When it comes to your creatures, Leonin Skyhunter isn't really lighting my world on fire. Some ideas I have for a replacement are Mirran Crusader which has excellent protection from giant creatures and removal, Riders of Gavony because nearly all of your creatures are Humans as well so getting protection from every vampire or Eldrazi ever can be a big deal, or Knight of Meadowgrain for the lifelink, which even when your not against burn can still do a lot for you. Flying is something I find amazing in limited but in constructed I'm very meh about it.

Quarantine Field can work like a mass Banishing Light, just something to consider.

Otherwise I really do like the tribal theme. =) I think most of your cards are solid choices and your sideboard is fantastic.

Finally, If it were modern legal I'd suggest Ladies' Knight and Man of Measure for obvious reasons

Two big things I would appreciate opinions on are #1Glaring Spotlight vs Basilisk Collar: glaring spotlight is a finisher which its sacrifice ability which wins me more games than anything else, but basilisk collar would be scary with all this first strike. #2 the two cost creatures: Paladin en-Vec vs Knight of Meadowgrain vs Leonin Skyhunter vs Knight of the Holy Nimbus vs about half the knight creature options... I'm probably missing some. Advice on other parts are always appreciated too though.

Wizard_of_the_Broke: Knight of the White Orchid is slightly more reliable in this deck than at first glance. You need to take Path to Exile and Ghost Quarter into consideration. I did run 2 Leonin Skyhunter at first, they might go back in after a few games if i feel i need them. I'm waffling on Mutavault vs. Forbidding Watchtower. I might even consider 1x Quicksand

Dorotheus: wow. I never thought of that. I might do that later, down the line after the first version of the deck is complete and done it's first round of games in a tournament.

Guys, I have a new card to take into consideration with the new set coming out. what do you think?

Mutavault easily replaces Forbidding Watchtower - but I agree your land base might be a little smoother at 19-20. Knight of the White Orchid's effect is very unreliable. I would would maybe hedge my bets by playing 2X Leonin Skyhunter, who trades with Delver of Secrets  Flip, absorbs pressure from Lingering Souls, deals with Vault Skirge, etc..

But basically, it's a pretty good deck. I'd say there's not much room for improvement without getting into another color.

JWiley129 on Attacking and Regenerating

No, part of the rules of Regeneration is that if the creature was in combat it is removed from combat if it is destroyed. So your Leonin Skyhunter will not be destroyed, but it will not hit your opponent.

I declared my Leonin Skyhunter as attacking then my opponent responds with a Doom Blade. I then respond with a Dawn Charm, regenerating my creature. Does my opponent still take 2 from the leonin skyhunter as it was destroyed but regenerated?
