Kruin Striker Discussion

Nice deck. +1 from me.

And I have some suggestion from my Krenk deck Krenko's Mob

For Token Produktion: Goblin Instigator, Beetleback Chief and Kuldotha Rebirth

Some finishers: Clickslither, Burn at the Stake and Massive Raid

No goblins but absoluty nuts: Ogre Battledriver and Kruin Striker

And last but not least: Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician, Quest for the Goblin Lord and Obsidian Battle-Axe (Krenko is a warrior)

HQr8rQH- I really like your deck, I can see you put a lot of effort into it. A couple of quick things: Ramunap Ruins is banned, so you might want to remove it (I know it sucks, I loved it too). I know it sounds wild, but Purphoros, God of the Forge will do you a lot of good in this deck, as it pings for 2 for every goblin that enters. Kruin Striker cost more than Foundry Street Denizen, but is gets trample as well as the power buff. Great deck, keep up the good work! Hope my suggestions help!

So your central combo is on the curve and looks fun, but I'm not sure your taking the best advantage of it. For starters you want to have Soul Warden or Essence Warden as a 1 drop in this deck, either would be a better choice than Altar of the Brood as you really aren't setup to win via mill before you can win with damage.

Bramblesnap needs you to tap your tokens, where as Kruin Striker grows just because you activated the combo, except you want to be running 4x of them (this is true even if you keep Bramblesnap) so cut 2x Stoke the Flames so you can.

Stonybrook Schoolmaster doesn't do enough in this deck, but Champion of Lambholt would be great, easily rendering your tokens unblockable, but again ideally you want to run 3x so cut the last Stoke the Flames too.

Lastly, I'm fairly sure this deck could be built as essentially 2 colour either (use red draw like Tormenting Voice and Faithless Looting) or (with a red splash for Elemental Mastery) which might make the mana fixing a bit easier for you.

I've been a fan of Doomed Traveler if you wanted to try that out. Kruin Striker and Impact Tremors can also be fun payoff cards for pumping out a lot of creatures.

  1. It's hard to tell how many to cut with your land count being like 16 short. and you're another 5 short from being at 100. So throwing 5 of those at lands, that means we are looking to cut 11 cards.
  2. Arashin Foremost a little underwhelming for going double white. occasionally giving someone else double strike is ok.
  3. Blood-Chin Fanatic doesn't deal damage, only life loss so it doesn't synergize as well with your commander.
  4. Kruin Striker looking to get multiple triggers in one turn to be useful
  5. Nath of the Gilt-Leaf It's only at your upkeep and 1 opponent, so it's a free 1/1 token a turn. It is a good card. I just don't think it's great.
  6. Winnower Patrol It'll have less than 50% chance every turn to grow
  7. Flamerush Rider This card is better if creatures you control have good etb's
  8. Goblin WardriverI like the battle cry. The double red mana not so much. remember you're running a 4 color mana base so this is almost never a turn 2 play, maybe not even a turn 4.
  9. Grim Flayer Budget reasons. He is currently @ $20 on tcg
  10. Rubblebelt Raiders I love the card, just not in this deck.Looking to make cuts where we can and the mana is not exactly 100% supportive of this.
  11. Yasova Dragonclaw Not sold on this card and like i said making cuts where we can.
  12. Skyshroud Claim only grabs forests, look into grabbing something that can get other color producing lands. You don't have the need for more than 1 forest.
  13. Mardu Charm I just don't think this card is worth the slot still

Since you're already playing green, I know you mentioned playing Glimpse of Nature in a mill version, but I feel like with Glimpse of Nature main, you can go more for the Grapeshot kill, a lot more reliably and very fast too! I don't think Kruin Striker is anywhere near as fast and reliable as just Grapeshoting your opponent to death on turn 1/2 ;

I agree that Kruin Striker can be gigantic but, you if you only have to do 20 damage it becomes kind of overkill. The reason I suggest Goblin Bushwhacker is it requires the opponent to have multiple types of disruption to stop them from dying. As it is they only need to kill the one creature, unless you get to the point where you have multiple out I suppose, but if you go off turn one, I doubt you would have multiple. So a Terror or any one of the dozens of functional reprints that exist to stop it. If you have Glimpse of Nature and the Cloudstone Curio, it means they need to have at least two counters available early which is much less likely to happen then a single one. Plus if they do, then you can start dropping dudes and drop the Goblin Bushwhacker which they would have to again counter, because even if they kill him, his buff stays on the creatures and its much harder to deal with 20 1/1's than 1 20/20. Just a thought. Now if you don't run up against that kind of stuff to often than Kruin Striker is fine. I guess it just depends on who you want to beat. When I play at home I would always go for a 300/300, but when I go to events I just want something a bit harder to stop.
