Jhoira's Toolbox

Artifact Creature — Insect

(2): Regenerate target artifact creature.

I know last updated 4 years ago at the time of leaving this comment. still thought id maybe leave a suggestion or two. before I say anything Id like to say the glissa deck you have seems fun and is very different than mine. that isnt a bad thing i enjoy seeing alternate takes. she is/was my first commander deck i built as well.

Jhoira's Toolbox, by no means do I hate this card. might I suggest Welding Jar. Jhoira's cost 2 to cast, then another 2 to regenerate a target. Welding jar is 0, and Sac to Regen target. the obvious downsides and benefits are that Jhoira doesnt have to sac itself to regenerate. however it is specific to artifact creatures. Welding jar targets any artifact.

Doom Blade, i would replace with Assassin's Trophy. either or is fine imho.

Some cards i would suggest maybe but i dont have any replacement ideas would be, Grist, the Hunger Tide, Casualties of War, Ashes to Ashes, Grisly Salvage, Skullclamp.

by no means do you have to listen to any of my card suggestions as i said above i have no recommendations for what to remove for those cards. just some food for thought.

i used to run Triskelion in my deck i dont anymore tho. Myr Battlesphere is another card i used to run but took out as well. neither of them are bad by any means. i just removed them arbitrary reasons.

side note, it always makes me happy to see Disciple of the Vault. dont see that card too much these days!

Some cards which I think should be cut because I think they are not too great or have fallen out of love with them are: Inkwell Leviathan, Jhoira's Toolbox, Myr Battlesphere, Myr Enforcer, Scarecrone, Willbender, Brittle Effigy, Darksteel Ingot, Dreamstone Hedron, Lux Cannon (unless you have a way of getting counters more quickly), Staff of Nin, Tower of Fortunes, Trading Post, Dismiss, Dissipate, and Dream Fracture.

Various stuff I forgot the first go around:

  • I didn't want to include Muzzio, Visionary Architect because he felt a little too reliant on luck, and he's a non-artifact card, so I'll always be forced to hard cast him. He's definitely good, I just don't want to run discount Arcum Dagsson.
  • Honden of Seeing Winds is five mana for "draw one card on your next turn," and even that draw isn't guaranteed (considering the number of things that could happen in one turn cycle by the time I can cast this card). Consistent draw like this can be quite convenient, but cards like Reverse Engineer are typically more than enough at that mana cost.
  • Master of Etherium is out of budget.
  • Thopter Assembly has now replaced Thopter Spy Network, thanks.
  • Darksteel Forge is quite far out of budget, but is an auto-include when I do obtain it.
  • Jhoira's Toolbox does not "regenerate everything," it regenerates one thing, which is quite a big difference for a card that isn't doing much else. I'll consider it if my artifacts draw a lot of hate.
  • Buried Ruin has been added.
  • Scrap Trawler was cut because it seemed like I wouldn't need that much recursion, but your mileage may vary. If your janky artifact decks draw a lot of hate or your meta is saturated with sweepers, Scrap Trawler might be a wise inclusion. It also works well with sacrifice outlets and strategies more common in red artifact decks from cards like Goblin Welder.
  • The other artifact lands produce mana outside my commander's color identity and are therefore illegal. Imprinting Seat of the Synod onto Prototype Portal is something I didn't think about though. Neat.
  • Vizier of Many Faces is a little too out of theme for me. Duplicant would be great if it was in budget.

Hi! I always wanted to build a deck like yours, but I already have a Breya deck so, I never did it (here it is btw Ovewhelming Machines).

I'd suggest some cards out of you'd get good use imo.

Cranial Plating!!!! Must have. Like super budget face-beater.

Honden of Seeing Winds Good passive draw.

Master of Etherium is Lord effect + huge boi

Thopter Assembly it's 5 thopters after one turn, if you're behind

Darksteel Forge indestructible. And you have a lot of ramp, so 9 mana isn't a problem.

Jhoira's Toolbox regenerates everything.

Buried Ruin why isn't already in?

Scrap Trawler everything can have recursion built in.

And at last, if you like artifact synergy (I bet you do), you can also add the remaining four artifact lands, since they are colorless (they are lands). They would only produce colorless mana, but they're still artifacts, so they untap with Unwinding Clock, can be impressed on Prototype Portal, etc.

Happy brewing! (Hope I didn't write something you already knew of).

Your deck looks decent for a budget deck, but remember that it is extremely easy to remove artifacts and creatures in EDH. You need some more ramp and coverage for your creatures.

Here are my brief recommendations.

Remove: Quest for the Holy Relic- You don't have enough creatures to make this useful or consistent

Add: Temple of the False God, Ancient Den, Open the Vaults, Tempered Steel, Alloy Myr

Maybe: Jhoira's Toolbox, Metallurgeon, Mycosynth Golem

If you can afford it: Darksteel Forge, Door of Destinies

I recommend taking a look at Srama Lama Ding Dong - Sram $40 Budget Voltron and These Are a Few of Sram's Favorite Things (CheapDH as while they are different than your and run different commanders, you'll probably find quite a few ideas to upgrade your deck.

Lifeline doesn't seem all that necessary-I rarely cat Hope unless I have nothing else do to, enough mana to do cast Hope and do more thing, or I'm setting up to win next turn. Jhoira's Toolbox seems interesting, but I'm not sure if it will wind up here. Null Brooch does counter spells, which is very nice in colorless, but the ability to only counter non-creature spells does seems a bit limited. However, my friend does play Baral, Chief of Compliance counterspell tribal, so Null Brooch might be sideboard tech against him. Warping Wail does seem like it could be useful here, as it does counter Creeping Corrosion, Vandalblast, and Shatterstorm among other things. Predator, Flagship is reusable, but I usually don't need to blow creatures up unless it's a game ending effect.
