Jace, Mirror Mage

Legendary Planeswalker — Jace

Kicker (You may pay an additional as you cast this spell.)

When this enters the battlefield, if it was kicked, create a token that's a copy of this card except it's not a legendary and its starting loyalty is 1.

+1: Scry 2. (Look at the top two cards of your library, then put any number of them on top or bottom of your library in any order.)

0: Draw a card and reveal it. Remove a number of loyalty counters equal to that card's converted mana cost/mana value from Jace, Mirror Mage.

wallisface I really love the idea of planeswalkers that can make copies of themselves (Jace, Mirror Mage, Jace, Cunning Castaway, and Ob Nixilis, the Adversary are some of my fave planeswalker designs!!)

Hi, Profet93,

I agree with you that drawing is better than scrying, but scrying is just a lot cheaper to do. From the scry cards I currently play, I would not drop Jace, Mirror Mage, because I enjoy playing it, and I would not drop Behold the Multiverse, because its a nice instant draw spell.

That only leaves Retreat to Coralhelm, if Im not overlooking something. I might consider removing Retreat to Coralhelm at some point because it doesnt have that much synergy with the rest of the deck. Earlier, I played both Arcanis the Omnipotent and Walking Atlas, which were really good with it, but now I only have Azami, Lady of Scrolls left.

However, it does give me a free scry per round for three mana, which is pretty nice. And it does synergize with Azami, Lady of Scrolls as well as potentially being usefull for tapping annoying blockers. Maybe in a situation where I have a big Sturmgeist on the table and my opponent has a single flying blocker it could do some work.

So.. Keeping the scrying cards for now I think.

You mention more "card draw" -cards, did you have any spesific ones in mind? Any card suggestions?

A nice casual list. If you want to improve reliability, I'd cut white entirely, because as cool as proliferating plainswalkers is, casting spells off of untapped islands is a little stronger, and there are a few cheap green/white plainswalkers that feel right. Alternatively, go down to 1-2 plains to fetch from evolving?

If you really want the walkers, Jace, Cunning Castaway, Jace, Mirror Mage, Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter, Kasmina, Enigma Sage, Mu Yanling, Sky Dancer, Narset, Parter of Veils, Samut, Tyrant Smasher or Tamiyo, Collector of Tales are all neat options.

I'd look at Azor's Elocutors for a second win condition if you want it, but its less quiditch themed.

They changed the uniqueness rule for planeswalkers a while ago so you can have multiple walkers of the same character out. They are just legendary so you can't have multiple of the same card out. That's why Jace, Mirror Mage has the text that the copy tokens it makes of itself aren't legendary.

So Sakashima isn't really doing much for your deck now. You could run the flip-Jace Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip as your commander.

I would swap some of the ramp cards higher on the mana curve to more 2-mana ramp. With your commander being 4 CMC, the more 2 mana ramp you have the more likely you'll get them out one turn early. So I'm looking at things like Quandrix Cultivator (cool card regardless) and Nissa's Expedition . Maybe switch them for a Mind Stone , or Three Visits , or Farseek (this last one with an added inclusion of lands like Breeding Pool if it's within your budget, or more budget cards like Rimewood Falls or Mystic Sanctuary )

If you want to play with planeswalkers, Jace, Mirror Mage might be a cool addition.

Orvar, the All-Form is a sweet card, but I don't think this deck has enough instants and sorceries that could trigger his ability for the inclusion to be worth it. Either cut Orvar, or make sure you start adding more spells that can take advantage of it (maybe more clone token making spells).

Jas = Jace, Mirror Mage

Vorinclex is in all top eight decks and they only run three creatures him, God of lies, and Elder Gargaroth (1or2copies).

Idoneity on Kaldheim's Walkers

So, we've seen a consistent theme within the past Standard releases since War of the Spark, being the Planeswalkers. What always happens is that there are three 'Walkers—two returning characters and one new. Throne of Eldraine had these two, this one, and Elk; Theros, Beyond Death had her, that one, and him; Ikoria had High-Kick, this guy, and that person; and, lastly, Zendikar Rising had this compeer, this complice, and this confrere. (Ran out of things to call them).

With each of these people clearly stated above, and with the coming of Kaldheim, I am much curious as to what players may speculate. We know that it is a frore, hiemal terrain, being a Nordic-esc setting, but I know not anyone who would suit this setting. Sarkhan that beseems the wintry world, but the other returning character is more difficult to isolate.

More so as a follow-up in the same thread, any ideas for the new Planeswalker's design?
