Good_knight Well I really don't know what you have so that makes things harder. I can offer some suggestions but that kind of depends on your meta. What is your playgroup like or are you talking about local game store? Do you play 1v1 or more?

If your 1v1 I suggest more spot removal. This should help you buy time to get your engine online. There are a ton of cheap options as white and black are good for this. If you have a local game store near buy, you might be able to do get these pretty easy. Afterlife, Swords to Plowshares, Blazing Hope, Crib Swap, Mortify, Profane Procession (this would be a good card for this deck even when you move beyond it simple trickets). Unmake, Walk the Plank, Go for the Throat. You get the idea.

Ok so some ideas for improving your creature pool. I tried to keep this pretty cheap. Dauntless Bodyguard, Chieftain en-Dal, Fiendslayer Paladin, Kinsbaile Cavalier, Knight of Dusk (A great cheap card for this deck. Just make sure you always have the mana up to destroy. Since it can be played at instant speed you can kill their creature after blockers are declared and damage is done. This is one of the reasons you should wait until second main to play nonessential spells. Lightwielder Paladin, Knight of Sursi, Mirror Entity, Pentarch Paladin.

Some enchantments to help out: Glorious Anthem, Behind the Scenes, Archetype of Courage, Archetype of Finality, Brave the Sands, Intimidation, Knighthood.

Artifacts and lands: Whip of Erebos, Fellwar Stone, Rupture Spire, Path of Ancestry Unclaimed Territory . If you want to splurge a little bit get an Isochron Scepter and put something like Go for the Throat on it.

This are just suggestions. Take all or some. On August 10th the new preconstructed Commander decks come out. In the past these have been pretty awesome for right out of the box. You can always tailor make them. They are normally worth well over the MSRP.

Also don't let the prices here scare you too much. They are just a generalization. You could go to tcgplayer and get better values. Even after you choose, they can optimize your cart to get a lower value.

Thassa, God of the Sea will let you pay 1U for each creature to make them unblockable.

You could also try cards that give all your creatures flying, fear, or protection. Cards like Akroma's Memorial, Eldrazi Monument, Archetype of Imagination, Frostwind Invoker, Levitation, Wonder, Intimidation, and Vela the Night-Clad.

Torrent Elemental, Blustersquall, and Teleportal could work too.

Evasion, evasion, evasion. That seems to be what the deck is lacking and is the best way to proc Beckett.

I see you have Cover of Darkness which is a good start. Add Levitation, Goblin War Drums, and Archetype of Imagination, maybe even Intimidation.

I also second the suggestion to add some changelings, mainly Taurean Mauler and Cairn Wanderer. The wanderer ends up being a stupid good pirate after a single wrath effect.

And until we get more pirates in the next set, more draw power will help you fill the board with pirates. Kindred Discovery seems like a must include.

Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons - JLK | Game Knights #6

Here are a couple suggestions I found while researching the Hapata build.

Flourishing Defenses - More token generation.

Soul Snuffers - Very similar to Archfiend of Ifnir

Midnight Banshee - Wither, plus a great upkeep trigger

Crumbling Ashes - Similar trigger on a harder to remove enchantment and a lower CMC.

Serrated Arrows

Vhati il-Dal - A great way to two card combo kill tough creatures.

Eternal Witness - E witness for life.

Craterhoof Behemoth - A perfect finisher for all of those nasty deathtouch tokens.

Glistening Oil - Pseudo-recurring single target removal.

Eldrazi Monument - Another synergy card with the tokens from Hapatra.

Archfiend of Ifnir -The aforementioned Deadly Demon.

Woodfall Primus - Persist and a great ETB trigger.

Ulvenwald Tracker - An option.

Cards I would remove:

Intimidation - A very expensive enchantment that doesn't grant you much synergy as I don't think you will be wanting to attack often. Rather rest on your defenses until the timing is perfect. I.E. Craterhoof Behemoth or Overrun

Ferropede - Cannot justify taking a card slot. IMO.

Patron of the Orochi - Run Seedborn Muse if you are looking for this effect due to snake offering not "offering" much to reduce the cost of the creature.

Gnarled Effigy - I think you would be better suited by Trigon of Corruption if you are looking for this type of effect.

Tainted Strike - How are you going to get the last points of Infect damage?

I'd swap out Intimidation for Cover of Darkness (naming Spirit) unless you'll be swinging with non-tokens...

Waste Not seems like a waste in a deck focused on the combat damage/cascade instead of wheel effects (Kydele at the helm). I'd also remove said wheel effects Windfall, Whispering Madness and Reforge the Soul (specially since you won't be cascading if you cast it for the Miracle cost). Maybe keep Wheel of Fate as a target for 0 cmc. And did you seriously go for Notion Thief + Wheel effect (aka Leovold's reason for being banned?). This would be a reason to really hate on your deck (which you said you would try to avoid this time).

Consuming Aberration is a strong and annoying creature to deal with, but it does seem out of place here. Is your plan to kill everyone via combat/cascading or do you want to mill everyone out? He does so much better in Chaos Yidris/Storm Yidris...

Hellkite Tyrant would be better off in an artifact heavy deck (even though you have a bunch of mana rocks and stealing artifacts is always fun, I think it doesn't impact the game as much as you'd like).

Damia, Sage of Stone requires you to wait a whole turn before doing something. So, unless you go for some extra turn cards, I'd rather have a bunch of effects that drew me cards immediately or increased the number of cards drawn each turn: Mulldrifter, Thoughtcast for the Affinity, Scour the Laboratory for the Delirium, Recurring Insight is almost guaranteed to draw you 6+ cards since it has rebound and Pore Over the Pages untaps some lands for you.

Deepfathom Skulker, Mask of Memory, Bident of Thassa, Tandem Lookout all provide extra card draw from combat. Staff of Nin provides a good passive card draw (and the 1 damage basically means opponents' creatures have 1 less toughness if needed).

Null Profusion is one of the weird cards that could work really well with Yidris. If you manage to drop a Thought Vessel or Reliquary Tower AFTER it, the hand-restriction is nullified and it's important to notice it grants you a draw for playing lands as well.

Did you purposefully let extra turn cards out? Better than netting an extra attack step would be netting an extra turn.

Boundless Realms could also be interesting since it grants a cascade into 6- and ramps you a lot in the mid game (which is very important in your deck). Zendikar Resurgent would also work really well, granting an extra draw per creature spell and doubling up your mana, even though it doesn't thin your deck as Boundless Realms does.

I'd drop Elixir of Immortality since you have better options such as Praetor's Counsel and Seasons Past.

Whispersilk Cloak and Trailblazer's Boots seem unnecessary. Most of the time there'll be someone with not enough defenses to stop your Yidris. And if there are, you'd be better off clearing the path instead of going through and relying on a good cascade to turn the tables. You could also try Intimidation or Shizo, Death's Storehouse since Fear often translates into unblockable (you just have to attack the right person)

Savage Ventmaw is mostly used with Aggravated Assault or Hellkite Charger for infinite (or near infinite) combat steps. Since you don't enjoy infinite combos, you could go for the Hellkite (it's also cheaper). Metalwork Colossus works pretty well with a good number of mana rocks.

If you feel like spending some money, Scroll Rack allows you to "choose" your cascades.
