Infiltrator's Magemark Discussion

What is Nekusar doing for you in this deck? I get that it pings in when your commander comes down, but this deck doesn't seem like it cares about normal damage. I also noticed you're running Splinter Twin, but I don't see any combo pieces to make it a secondary win con. I like what you've done with the Bestow creatures, since some of them provide both evasion and future sac fodder, although you might also want to consider Aether Tunnel , Tricks of the Trade , and Infiltrator's Magemark , along with some damage doublers like Furnace of Wrath. I would also check out EDHREC for some more Grixis and Lord of Tresserhorn staples. It's odd that this deck isn't running Signets or Vandalblast and is favoring narrow answers like Annul over Negate

How abaout Beastmaster's Magemark, Infiltrator's Magemark and Guardian's Magemark?

They power up all enchanted creatures and they enchants a creature.

QuilavaUchiha its more the endless sea of green in the underworld in the greek mythology, where the people live afterlife when the were related to the gods. There they can live blessed and peacefully.

Nice deck, your construction reminds me of my first version which was more Enchantress-draw based. Keep in mind that in those days not all cards in your deck where available. You can find that deck over here: [Rafiq 1.0] Enchantress Draw

Enchantments and Auras

There are a few enchantments i'd like to mention which I tried in my decks aswell and did not make it to the final cut (or at least the deck how I play it nowadays).

Ancestral Mask and Ethereal Armor I think these cards are too much dependent on having other enchantments on the board. And it does not give an 'unblockable' bonus for instance flying or trample.

Armadillo Cloak I used to run this and also Unflinching Courage but I dropped them because in my playgroup people tend to scoop when you strike them lethal so you don't get the advantage of the lifelink.

I think you should replace these cards with cards who give better 'unblockable' bonus for instance Infiltrator's Magemark or Spirit Mantle who have a low CMC. Or maybe Drake Umbra which cost more but also gives better bonus.

Creatures

Further your creature base. I also have tried cards like Herald of the Pantheon but I rather use a general ramp card than an card that only affects your enchantments. Same for Kor Spiritdancer who only triggers on auras. I would consider Knight Exemplar and Umbra Mystic who both help protecting your Commander.

Also I am not a fan of the Legendary-Enchantment Creatures. Bestow cost are mainly too high to cast and I think there are better options available. But if you want to stick to that theme that's okay and then you might consider Thassa, God of the Sea.

Planeswalkers

I see no planeswalkers in your deck and Bant has a few which really juice this deck up. One I am allready playing myself and the other one is on my wants-list. I suggest to try Tamiyo, Field Researcher and Estrid, the Masked they can be smashing. And if you are adding planeswalkers Shalai, Voice of Plenty might be a nice add.

Surprise, Surprise

You really need to add this one: Hunter's Insight this is a crazy card drawer in your deck. And I like cards like: Vines of Vastwood, Invigorate and Might of the Nephilim for the surprise (aka lethal) hit. They are cheap to cast and speed up the game.

Well this is all for now. I might review your deck later again. Maybe you can review mine in the latest version: [Rafiq 2.0] To Serve & Protect [cEDH]

If you want more offense, I have two suggestions: unblockability and hexproof. Aether Tunnel and Infiltrator's Magemark are great. But what really takes the cake here is Spirit Mantle. It is unblockable, but also dodges creature abilities. For hexproof, I have three suggestions: Alpha Authority, Shielding Plax, and the best of the three, Canopy Cover.

And if you're dabbling in group hug to look unassuming, Dictate of Kruphix and Rites of Flourishing are great.

I feel like Liliana's Caress and Megrim should be in here for the damage when you make your opponents discard by swinging and hitting with Bolas. Painful Quandary could also work as a buffer to any removal. Also, you could also give Nicol Bolas Grafted Exoskeleton or Phyresis to kill the enemy faster and Whispersilk Cloak or Infiltrator's Magemark to make him unblockable. Finally, Cruel Ultimatum should be in here for the sweet, sweet flavour.

Warpath251 thanks for the advice. Tricks of the Trade is actually one of the cards that I was planning to drop anyway in this deck, too expensive CMC for the bonus it gives. I like the scry-bonus with Aqueous Form but it lacks the pump-bonus which I really want in every Aura in the deck.

In fact I am considering Infiltrator's Magemark to fill this slot. Gives a +1/+1 bonus and makes Rafiq of the Many hard to block. It can be played under any creature to give the bonus which might be handy in combination with Umbra Mystic.

WhiteWeasel on Building a budget Voltron

So due to being less than thrilled with my Bant Token deck, I was thinking about rejigging it to be a voltron deck since my commander; Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker is pretty good at powering themselves up since I often play multiple opponents in my local magic group, and was considering of changing it to a new theme.

Cards I own

I For control and disruption I have plenty of control cards like Convolute, Counterspell, Simic Charm, Spell Rupture, etc... Disruption includes Divine Reckoning, Pacifism, Diminish, Paralyzing Grasp, Rapid Hybridization, Defang, Cage of Hands As well as stuff that trashes enchantments and Artifacts.

For powering up my commander my Artifact pool is less than ideal, had to work with what I got. They include Trailblazer's Boots, Fireshrieker, Skyblinder Staff, Ring of Evos Isle, Grafted Exoskeleton, and Livewire Lash.

Enchantments and effects for protecting my commander and/or giving them evasion include: Infiltrator's Magemark, Holy Mantle, Guildscorn Ward, Alpha Authority, Ghostform, Sheltering Word, Survive the Night, Haze of Pollen, Shielded Passage, Rogue's Passage etc...

Mana Ramp: Assume all of my mana rocks in the bant deck are going to be cannibalized.

Creatures: I don't have the good stuff to do a true one man voltron, but I can use walls like Angelic Wall, Fog Bank, Wall of Frost for protecting myself and the effects of creatures like Fan Bearer, Mistmeadow Witch, New Prahv Guildmage, to aid my commander so they can swing in for lethal damage.

Cards I'm Scouting to Buy

New commander to pair with Ishai: Reyhan, Last of the Abzan

The cards I'm looking to get for this build would be things like the WUBRG Wards and the dual color protection like Shield of Duty and Reason, and Spectra Ward. Mask of Avacyn, Swiftfoot Boots, Aqueous Form, Steel of the Godhead, Indestructibility, and Battle Mastery

Others: Ring of Thune (and the variants in the other colors),
Sword of Vengeance, Whispersilk Cloak, Inquisitor's Flail, Grappling Hook, Mask of Riddles, Sigil of Distinction,

Think this is something that I can/should pull off? Any Budget recommendations?
