Indulge / Excess

Sorcery

Indulge:

Whenever a creature you control attacks this turn, create a 1/1 green and white Citizen creature token that’s tapped and attacking.

Excess:

Aftermath (Cast this spell only from your graveyard. Then exile this.)

Create a Treasure token for each creature you controlled that dealt combat damage to a player this turn. (They're colourless artifacts with ", Sacrifice this: Add one mana of any colour.")

The Reaver Cleaver and Indulge / Excess can both make a ton of treasures.

Malik, Grim Manipulator is probably meta dependent but if you see a lot of Aristocrats or other sacrifice strategies it could be amazing.

Indulge / Excess won't get double triggers from Isshin because the creature (or any other permanent) doesn't technically gain the ability. Pretty sure that applies to Basri as well. It would need to be worded as creatures you control gain "whenever it attacks...", specifically with the parentheses.

This looks like a fun deck. I have a few ideas for you though.

Grand Crescendo is board protection plus a lot of potential tokens if you pay into X.

Indulge / Excess is another army-in-a-can with the added payoff of potentially ramping hard.

Call the Coppercoats is meta dependent, but this thing can make a LOT of tokens at instant speed.

Ogre Battledriver is an underrated haste enabler that turns all those 1/1's into immediate 3/1 threats.

Skyhunter Strike Force gives +3+3 to your army just for attacking all 3 opponents. It doesn't need to attack itself either, which is nice.

Mirror Entity is downright amazing when you're ramping and going wide.

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa is a finisher and a boardwipe deterrent all in one. You can threaten to turn an opponent's lands into 1/1's in response to a boardwipe.

Luminous Broodmoth makes your deck more resilient while addressing the lack of flyers.

CamraMaan on Interaction between Indulge // Excess …

I'm assuming that Citizen creature tokens created by Indulge / Excess can only be attackers during their first attack phase, and using Aggravated Assault to untap them and attack again won't work? I assume they would be haste. But with each combat my other attacking creatures will create a new horde of attacking Citizens, and treasures, so it could be worse. (BTW, I think Indulge / Excess is an underrated card.) Thanks in advance!

Last_Laugh on competitive cards vs casual cards

yeaGO I've noticed that some hatebears seem to tip the scale a little more than they should imo (almost like they got grouped with stax pieces) so that's probably the majority of the difference in scores.

The newer cards thing is possibly an issue too but most of the newer stuff is around Streets of New Capenna or older (so I'd assume that's not too new?). Indulge / Excess, Scepter of Celebration, and Seize the Spotlight from SNC with only Blood for the Blood God!, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, and The Meathook Massacre that're newer.

Scepter of Celebration, Indulge / Excess, and Call the Coppercoats will all produce large amounts of tokens here.

Toski, Bearer of Secrets and Dhalsim, Pliable Pacifist will help keep your grip full.

Dolmen Gate and Reconnaissance will allow you to swing safely with anyone and in the case of Recon, have everyone untapped by the end of combat while still dealing combat damage in most situations.

Roar of Resistance is a new card that'd work well here.

Sylvan Safekeeper might help with protecting your commander. I run Yavimaya Hollow for this purpose in a lot of decks, but it ain't cheap.

Scepter of Celebration's obvious comparison is The Reaver Cleaver. I run both in my Prossh list personally.

Seize the Spotlight in any red deck with sac outlets will always draw 3, +3 treasures. I love this card so much lol.

I'm not sure you go wide enough with creatures, but both parts of Indulge / Excess have some potential here.

I run Prossh, but there's obvious similarities so few free to check out my list for ideas. Upvotes on any of my decks are appreciated. Prossh's Dastardly Bastard Children - Group Slug
