Gleaming Barrier Discussion

Magelord909 on winning with loot

Ideally I'd save can use Bontu's Last Reckoning while Revel in Riches to generate enough treasures to win next upkeep. However I'm aware that ideal is rarely a thing that happens in games. I do really like Gleaming Barrier, so I think I am going to swap it for Sailor of Means. Thank you for the suggestion.

But unless I'm understanding the rules incorrectly, couldn't I use Mechanized Production to copy a treasure token and just use it to generate more tokens and trigger the win condition on that card?

Also what's your opinion on Deadeye Plunderers?

What is better? a 4th Gleaming Barrier or a Treasure Map  Flip? Also where do I make space for Search for Azcanta  Flip?

Bontu's Last Reckoning might be a little counterproductive, as I see you using up your Treasure tokens when your lands don't untap. Maybe try using Yahenni's Expertise or Golden Demise and cut down on the Bontu's?

Also, if you're not going Pirate tribal I might suggest Gleaming Barrier over Sailor of Means.

And maybe get rid of 1 or both Mechanized Production. There are no artifacts really worth copying, and it only does something IF you have the Treasure tokens to back it up (on your next turn). Personally, I feel like the 4x Revel in Riches should be enough.

You have a bit to little artifacts to let Kuldotha Rebirth work. Maybe add Gleaming Barrier, Pentad Prism, Prophetic Prism or Prismatic Lens. At least two of one.

And maybe exchange the Goblin Arsonist for one of the classic Goblin Tribal commons. Goblin Bushwhacker, Goblin Sledder or Sparksmith. As far as I know Sparksmith is an important removal card for Golbins and Goblin Sledder protects half your board against "1 damage to each creature"-spells.Goblin Bushwhacker should be played at least in the Sideboard if your opponent sideboards enchantment removal in.

That's really the game plan. Good ole fashioned control for early game, win in late game. Deck really shines in matches that go on too long. Early setup will be minimal really just being Treasure Map or Gleaming Barrier leading into counters and some treasure producing creatures down the line or as necessary during play if it's my only option. What I am happy with right now in standard is that there is a way to make treasures at almost every major CMC level (2-5). So my treasures were already kinda consistent to get at least 5 so I'm hoping five will now be the absolute regular setup and then higher in optimal games.

Right now I'm going into the testing for Storm the Vault

With rivals they actually made Revel in Riches doable. Im thinkin Pitiless Plunderer with Ruthless Knave sacking a Gleaming Barrier or dire fleet hoarder for a whopping 4 treasures. its even doable in aggro...imagine that.

I'd recommend Gleaming Barrier from the new RIX set instead of Wall of Forgotten Pharaohs. It's the same 2-drop blocker that survives those 3 dmg instants and if it dies it makes a treasure which is more synergistic with the theme.
