Garruk's Harbinger

Creature — Beast

Hexproof from black

Whenever Garruk's Harbinger deals combat damage to a player or planeswalker, look at that many cards from the top of your library. You may reveal a creature card or Garruk planeswalker card from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

You don't want to be sacrificing your beasts, the only win condition in your deck is attacking a lot with a lot of beasts. So I would either remove Ravenous Baloth or add Blossoming Bogbeast . Those 2 together are a wicked combo.

A few other good beasts that come to mind are Fangren Firstborn , Garruk's Harbinger , Nullhide Ferox , Questing Beast , and Ursapine . If your friends play counter-spell decks, consider Terra Stomper , or Spellbreaker Behemoth .

Between the Krosan Warchief and Rhonas's Monument, you have enough ways to reduce cost that the amulet that is a bit of overkill. Garruk's Harbinger could be a pretty for adding more beast to your hand while not slowing down on aggro. Speaking of aggro, Rhythm of the Wild is pretty good. Also Kalonian Tusker is a pretty good alternative to Garruk's Companion (or extra copies). Hope this helps.

If you wanted to add in some more "hexproof" creatures or just some cards that add another type of ability that Kathril will count for the total number of counters "put on a creature this way", you could add in Knight of Malice, Knight of Grace, Sphinx of the Guildpact, and Sporeweb Weaver. All of these different kinds of hexproof add a unique counter so if you had both knights in your graveyard when you cast Kathril, you'd get at least 3 counters. I thought hat was a pretty neat interaction that they only recently made a ruling for. Garruk's Harbinger also has hexproof from black and an ok card advantage ability, but is probably a little less appealing. Also, getting some graveyard tutors in here would go a long way. Even if its just Jarad's Orders and Final Parting. They would really help out with some consistency and help the deck run smoother and be more enjoyable to pilot.

Thanks for the feedback!

I've been using Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner for a while but with the release of Garruk's Uprising and Garruk's Harbinger, I saw some great synergy.

Track Down is a really great card as Scry is hard to come by in Green. Plus it has great synergy with Radha, Heart of Keld to place land into a position to play from the top of your deck.

The ideal draw for this deck is a Temple of Abandon with a Ilysian Caryatid and Kiora on turn 3.

Most opponents will drop an attack on Kiora but she has 7 starting Loyalty, so you will still likely get some use out of her.

Turn 4, you should be able to drop a Strength 4 critter, which boosts the Caryatid to 2 mana. That Caryatid plus Kiora, gives you 4 mana. So with an ideal mana curve, you should have 8 mana on turn 4.

Track Down works very well to ensure your on target for your turn 4 uprising.

Klothys is just an excellent card in this deck: it strips out graveyard cards, gives a nice 2 life exchange and between Garruk's Harbinger, Proud Wildbonder and Quartzwood Crasher, you should have no problem ramping up devotion to Klothys, to get her active.

I'm proud of this deck because it's relatively competitive while being fun and bucking the trend.

puresteel25 thank you very much :) yeah I already tested some games with Traverse in my older versions, it was great indeed, but it doesnt felt that powerfull as in Sultai. Also it's really hard to find a spot for it atm.

What card also came in my mind is the new Garruk's Harbinger. Black got a lot of removals in Pioneer and a 3 drop with some card advantage ability and also protection from the post played removals of the format seems pretty nice. Maybe I'm gonna cut those 2 Tireless Tracker and move Klothys into the SB to try 3 copies of Garruk's Harbinger.

What would you cut for Traverse?

Eight creatures see low for a playset of Garruk's Harbinger, although it does also hit your Walkers. Replacing Overgrowth with some dorks(Birds of Paradise) could fix this. Izoni, Thousand-Eyed feels weak without cards to fill the yard. Cutting her for Murderous Rider, which can be hit by Harbinger, or Rampaging Baloths, which fulfills a similar role and is better with Growing Ranks.
