Hardhitta7 on Most Flavorful Izzet Cards?

I have a very similar deck called Glory to the Firemind but it's private at the moment cause the list is a mess.

I was like dude! You need Ral Zarek! Then I seen him at the bottom.

Arjun, the Shifting Flame works well, Fluxcharger, Spellheart Chimera, Mizzix of the Izmagnus, Blast of Genius has Ral on it, Quicksilver Dagger is nice with Niv.

I also use Enter the Infinite as a possible win con.

Badass deck for sure, I am a proclaimed Izzet Mage/Fan Boy so I hope I helped. If you want to look at mine I will make it public for a bit.

(Oh and sorry if I suggested a few you already have, I was switching between tabs trying to avoid that lol)

I second the conclusion that Fluxcharger is a weak link in the deck. Since he costs 4, he is the hardest creature to cast. More importantly though, his ability has immediate diminishing returns when casting multiple spells in a turn, which I'd imagine is going to happen most of the time. Spellheart Chimera, Stormchaser Mage, and even the Wee Dragonauts in your maybeboard could be budget alternatives.

Some other cards I've played around with in Izzet are Guttersnipe and Young Pyromancer. The pyromancer can be particularly hilarious with Dragonshift. Izzet Charm is another spell I'd at least look at for the sideboard given its flexibility.

So to start off I am not super experienced with a Kiln Fiend style deck but I shall try to be helpful and I guess I will make a list of points to make it more clear.

-Blustersquall is a good card but I am not sure that it is good enough to be in a constructed deck. Also, this deck needs a cantrip which would net you card advantage as well as pumping whichever creature you have on the battlefield. So drop 4 Blustersquall for 4 Serum Visions.

-Lightning Bolt should be a 4 of and to do so I would drop the 2x Assault Strobe. Assault Strobe is good, but considering you already have 4 Temur Battle Rage, 6 double strike spells is too many.

-Between your 2 counter spells, Stubborn Denial > Mana Leak so I would drop Mana Leak for 2 more Stubborn Denial.

-If you want to play a pump spell, Mutagenic Growth > Titan's Strength. Yes Titan's Strength adds one more power but you must spend a mana to do so whereas with Mutagenic Growth it only costs 2 life, which saves mana for other spells.

-I believe that 16 creatures is too much and that 3-4 mana creatures are too expensive. So maybe drop Fluxcharger and Nivix Cyclops then add Blistercoil Weird, Nivmagus Elemental, or Thing in the Ice  Flip but my suggestion is Thing in the Ice  Flip. For the remaining 4 cards, I would add 2 Apostle's Blessing and 2 Sleight of Hand.

To summarize:

Drop:

4 Blustersquall

2 Mana Leak

4 Titan's Strength

2 Assault Strobe

4 Fluxcharger

4 Nivix Cyclops

Add:

4 Serum Visions

2 Stubborn Denial

4 Mutagenic Growth

2 Lightning Bolt

4 Thing in the Ice  Flip

2 Apostle's Blessing

2 Sleight of Hand

Sideboard Suggestions:

Blood Moon For when you are playing against decks where the majority of their mana bases are non basic lands.

Dismember For large creatures that you cannot remove with Lightning Bolt

Pyroclasm For small creature decks.

Shattering Spree For artifact decks.

Surgical Extraction For removing threats that you have a tough time removing.

Young Pyromancer For swinging wide with a lot of tokens.

Did you mean that you were not a big fan of Fluxcharger? He is the one whose toughness becomes 1 when you buff him with his ability. I feel like he is a pretty decent win combo with doublestrike Assault Strobe/Temur Battle Rage, but maybe not a playset's worth.

Also I am a big fan of Delver of Secrets  Flip, I am going to put that in. As for Thing in the Ice  Flip, maybe I will put him in later, as of right now I am trying not to spend all of my money on magic the gathering. Maybe if I build this deck and it shows good promise I will put him in later.

Thanks for the advice @Firebones675

The deck idea is hilarious and super sweet man! Good job. But don't you think Dwarven Thaumaturgist Is redundant since Valakut Fireboar and Fluxcharger can switch the p and t on their own?

It is not really an official format by any means. You can adjust starting lifetotals and even deck sizes - my group plays with 50 card decks and 30 life.

There is a list of Pedh generals on this site somewhere. I would suggest avoiding everything that says hexproof on the general. Lawmage with Steel of the Godhead is incredibly uninteractive and ends games easily.

I played an izzet spells-matter deck with Fluxcharger and the helm and pretty much every flashback and rebound spell. My friends had decks with Noxious Ghoul Zombie tribal, boros agro with Sunhome Guildmage tokens, voltron Lorescale Coatl with counterspells and pump and draw, Ruthless Deathfang control...

I'm changing Fluxcharger to Wee Dragonauts in my deck if that's all good.
