Less related to art and flavor, but the cards that took me too long to figure out were Pardic Firecat and Diligent Farmhand. I didn't know what a burst was. Nobody I talked to knew what a burst was. For a while, we decided it was something like an advanced part of the combat step that didn't get covered in the basic rules. Somehow, it took several years for us to find a Flame Burst, and then it all made sense.
Ah, the joys of being young and kinda dumb...

Weird idea here but what if you added Harness the Storm for a backup Pyromancer Ascension and add cards like Flame Burst/Kindle/Take Inventory which works on how many are in your yard? That way you get double spells that have bigger outcomes. That works right?

Flame Burst? Hadn't seen that before; my first thought was Kindle. Must have been from the period I wasn't playing. Looks like they're about the same though.
Unsubstantiate doesn't cantrip like Remand. Won't that mean it is a lot less useful?
Still no real cool green cards. The ones so far have been sort of typical green stuff.

Oh, right, that's important. Lightning Bolt, Browbeat, Rift Bolt, and Lava Spike are all good burn spells that could work for you. Fireblast might work well in a pinch. In case damage to your wallet is a concern, Magma Jet, Shock, Bonfire of the Damned, and Flame Burst might work.
