Ellywick Tumblestrum

Legendary Planeswalker — Ellywick

I’m surprised to see all the swords, but not the equipment that actually has an advent On it, Horn of Valhalla. Sailors' Bane is a wonderful payoff for casting as many adventures as possible. I’d also be concerned about how little ramp you have in the deck. Since the permanent side of an adventure is usually overcosted, and you’re going to be wanting to cast as many adventures as possible, so ramp is going to be extremely important to making the deck work. You may also want to add in a tad more removal, especially a board wipe or two. Tragic Arrogance would serve you here. And just a bit curious why you added Ellywick Tumblestrum as it doesn’t seem to fit with anything else you’re doing in the deck.

The dungeons are in the token section. I tried to put them in the sideboard so it's easier to see, but they ended up in tokens. But yeah, the deck really only uses Dungeon: Dungeon of the Mad Mage and Dungeon: Lost Mine of Phandelver, and we're trying to line up "target creature, something something" abilities on the dungeons with Willbreaker coming into play.

Basically, I just wanted to use Ellywick Tumblestrum in the most effective way I could : ) A happy go lucky planes traveling bard was just too much fun to let it slide by. But yeah, once Willbreaker comes in and I start hitting multiple ventures per turn with something like Yuan-Ti Malison with Fly on it, I can usually just yoink the world over to my side : )

Hey I've been trying out the Humans as well, tho I went a jankier route with heavier ramp & Rite of Harmony in order to do dumb things, whereas yours seems more like a straight beatdown strategy which seems like it should be pretty solid.

Intrepid Adversary seems like a must-include for this strategy as a finisher since you both go wide and ramp. I like Maja, but I think you'd need to play Augur of Autumn in order to get enough lands to get consistent tokens.

Since you're devoting 8 spots to ramp I think it'd be worth it to play 2-4 Katilda, Dawnhart Prime as it can do ridiculous things and also be an anthem effect.

You could also consider playing Lunarch Veteran  Flip instead of Prosperous Innkeeper. The one advantage the Innkeeper has is the treasure, while Lunarch costs less, is a Human, and has the disturb ability.

A few other ideas from my deck (Harmonic Humans) - Saryth, the Viper's Fang for protection & making it awkward to block your creatures, Brutal Cathar  Flip for removal, and Ellywick Tumblestrum for card advantage.

Ellywick Tumblestrum is mono-green and her emblem grants haste, which is not unheard of but it also isn't common. Normally you have Gruul if something in green globally grants haste, such as Rhythm of the Wild and Fires of Yavimaya, or Domri, City Smasher, as just a few examples.

But Elly is mono-green. Not Gruul.

And now the spoiled / released Wrenn and Eight gives an emblem that has no maximum hand size. And she, this time, is also mono-green.

Are we on the cusp of seeing green step out of its sphere? Are there other examples of this trend happening recently?

wallisface on Will WotC Ever Print Another …

A green version of Squadron Hawk already exists in Growth-Chamber Guardian.

There is also an existing green creature fetch that puts said creature straight into play, in Fiend Artisan.

And there are a ton of green planeswalkers that can go digging for creatures, the most recent being Ellywick Tumblestrum, but also from memory Vivien Reid (i'm not going to search these all out here, but I'm sure there's more).

In spell form there's also Tooth and Nail, which is notorious for throwing both Xenagos, God of Revels and Emrakul, the Aeons Torn into play and winning on the spot.

So, given enough time Wotc will probably print something which aligns more closely with what you're wanting... but it feels like there is already plenty-enough tools to get the effects you're after, and plenty enough cards that already do the thing you're wanting.
