Disrupt Discussion

Dankey on 京 An illusion? What are you hiding? (CEDH-STAX) 京

That's understandable. I suppose it really is a meta call.

When being focused down by your entire table, do you think Propaganda is worth playing so you don't get punched in the face every single turn by fast and inexpensive creatures by literally everyone?

Or are you more worried about players drawing into cheap answers, whereas playing a single Swan Song or Disrupt may be in order? Or if it's not too color intensive Mana Drain or Mystic Confluence? I feel I can spare a flex spot or two, and I understand cantrips are more desirable when playing counterspells in multiplayer.

After you have picked up the lords and sea's claims, (or the spreading seas, I actually think claim is better, less mana used, and you'll be scrying with thassa anyway) you're definitely on the right path with that devotion build, so make use of it!

Thassa, God of the Sea

Sideboard changes -4 Deprive, +2 Thassa's Rebuff +2 Mana Leak (then take out essence scatter and put 2 additional mana leaks or rebuffs into mainboard, I think).

(A non budget addition later on could be some Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx)

Counterspells:

Spell pierce is pretty good for countering things like planeswalkers and enchantments from aggro/bogle decks early on while your manabase is limited, hard to pass it up. You already have slightly more heft pay counterspells with rebuff and leak, so your spell pierce is purely for the early game control.

I would say keep it as is, but here's some of the other options for you, and also an alternative to cursecatcher (if you do run catchers, then take out the tidebinder mages or harbinger of the tides for them).

Swiggitywiggity Awesome! I am so psyched you took this list for a spin...sounds like you had fun with it...It can def throw people off for sure...they didn't see this coming! I don't have any Slow Motion but I did make some changes per your suggestions and experience with this list. Did you go up against any burn decks and if so, how did you do? (did you use any sideboard?). Also, was Spell Pierce of any help? I am considering swapping it out for either Force Spike or Disrupt. Thanks again for the support and suggestions!

Others have mentioned most of my auto-include cards: Skullclamp + Ashnod's Altar; Bident of Thassa (crazy with cards like Teleportal); Coat of Arms; Impact Tremors...

You have some good 'double-duty' cards like Disrupt but there are more: Drag Under and Exclude are slower/higher CMC than cards like Unsummon, but you get the card draw. Check out Fateful Showdown.

You're not running many things that boost your card draw, like Thought Reflection (Alhammarret's Archive is better, but more $$).

Last, making tokens is great, but making buff tokens is better - I run both Mindwrack Liege and Favorable Winds in mine. Hard to smash more face than putting a bunch of 4/4 hasty fliers on the board.

Here's my LG deck if you wanna check it out. Needs updating, but mostly the same - Fly, Fly, My Pretties!.

Im considering running it on the EE slot, EE its fine but too slow, ends up dragging me back on tempo as much as my opponents most of the time

Im currently deliberating between Stifle, Disrupt and Preordain.

Want to make sure your opponent can't pay up? Limited Resources does wonders. All of your artifact mana will ensure it doesn't hurt you too bad, either.

You might also like a touch of soft countering, like Mana Leak or Rune Snag. Just when someone thinks they've saved up for an out, you can knock 'em on their ass. Disrupt is even more insulting, if you're feeling brave! Aura of Silence would probably make a good sideboard option.
