Dawnbringer Charioteers

Creature — Human Soldier

Heroic — Whenever you cast a spell that targets Dawnbringer Charioteers, put a +1/+1 counter on Dawnbringer Charioteers.

Some thoughts:

  • Livewire Lash does nothing for your here - equipment won’t trigger your creatures as paying an equip cost is not “a spell targeting a creature”. Added to that this card is pretty weak anyway.

  • you have way too many creatures for a deck that cares about spells - i’d be ditching Dawnbringer Charioteers and Fabled Hero at the very least.

  • you currently have almost no way to mess with the opponents board state, which puts you in a really dangerous position, as your deck is slow and they’ll just be able to overwhelm you. I’d suggest at least 8 cards being dedicated to removal.

Hell yeah! Another heroics deck! I have one too but Daxos the Returned commands mine, same idea tho.

Some creatures that I don't see here that could benefit the deck are Celestial Ancient , Danitha Capashen, Paragon Dawnbringer Charioteers , Graceblade Artisan , Lagonna-Band Trailblazer , Sram, Senior Edificer , Wingsteed Rider , Umbra Mystic and my personal favorite Thran Golem .

Some enchantments I really like in my deck are Celestial Mantle , Daybreak Coronet , Divine Favor , Face of Divinity , Griffin Guide , Hope Against Hope , On Serra's Wings Angelic Destiny and Bonds of Faith can go offensive or defensive. You should look into some umbras like Felidar Umbra and Hyena Umbra .

Windborne Charge is a great little pump spell for a good cost. I'm surprised you're not running any enchantment tutors. Crystal Chimes is great graveyard enchantment recursion.

I noticed you have some token generation. Intangible Virtue could be an option. With that said Sigil of the Empty Throne is an excellent card in decks like this.

I realize I've only suggested white cards but that's the only overlapping color our decks share.

Sorry to spam this comment with so much but I got excited. I love the heroic mechanic and I'm glad to see other people utilizing it. A big enchanted +1 from me!

You're welcome... the upvote was just my approval of the changes you'd made; Paths + Pridemates are going to do you a world of good. I'm hoping Archangel of Thune finds her way in here eventually, too (note: her best friend is Spike Feeder, for its last ability).

Compare Dawnbringer Charioteers to Aerial Responder. It's very nearly the same creature; vigilance is usually far more advantageous than 1 extra toughness, but granted, toughness 4 does put Charioteer out of immediate Lightning Bolt danger (red player needs to wait for it to block before bolting it). Charioteer also has the ability to generate counters for itself, but with only 4 cards which may allow for this, it'll seldom happen.

The most meaningful difference between these two is 3 CMC v. 4 CMC.

Rally the Ancestors, Thatcher Revolt (maybe), Norin the Wary, and Champion of the Parish are pretty strong cards to run for tribal humans, especially since you're going for the aristocrat theme. Since you already have Xathrid Necromancer, Rally + a Sac outlet just makes them all zombos and puts them back in your yard.
Is Dawnbringer Charioteers ever good enough though? Otherwise Throne of the God-Pharaoh is always stellar in go-wide aggro decks.
I haven't attempted Humans but have been considering it with Tetsuo Umezawa but still unsure of it, but what you have going seems perfectly good. OH! Viridian Longbow is great to let your Queen assassinate her prey :p

This is a pretty cool deck! I would recommend Undergrowth Champion as he can get pretty big and still be a great blocker. Some other suggestions that I like to use in my +1/+1 counter decks: Dawnbringer Charioteers, Primeval Protector, and Solemn Recruit.

Hmm...

I'd start dropping/trading spells before cutting anymore creatures.

Could sideboard the 'defensive' spells (Path to Exile, and a mixture of Blossoming Defense/Gods Willing) until you need them... For more Heroic bodies... as a creature-beatdown deck, it still seems a tad light... Vanguard of Brimaz can help you go wide... Dawnbringer Charioteers is a bit high on the curve, but lifelink is nice...

Also, I found a few more spells to consider. Defiant Strike, Viridescent Wisps. These cantrips could help you cycle through your deck a little faster to get to more spells to cast... I know you're already fairly packed... but more options!... Options are never bad.

I would recommend getting rid of a lot of mana rampers. If you do heroic right, you don't need much mana at all, and 25 lands will absolutely get you mana flooded. I would get rid of Wingsteed Rider and get two more Akroan Skyguard. Also, get rid of Archangel of Thune, I'm fairly certain her ability does not trigger heroic. Nyx-Fleece Ram is much better replace with Lagonna-Band Trailblazer. Also add in Fabled Hero and Dawnbringer Charioteers, they are basically staples for WG modern. Throw in Unflinching Courage, Ethereal Armor, Canopy Cover, Hyena Umbra, and Gods Willing.
