Crystalline Nautilus

Enchantment Creature — Nautilus

Bestow 3UU (If you cast this card for its bestow cost, it's an Aura spell with enchant creature. It becomes a creature again if it's not attached to a creature.)

When Crystalline Nautilus becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it.

Enchanted creature gets +4/+4 and has "When this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it."

Capsize is a powerful piece of repeatable removal that greatly benefits from Mizzix's cost reduction ability (extra costs like buyback, kicker, etc are reduced as well).

Reiterate can give you the extra push with your instants and sorceries, plus the buyback cost can be negated by your commander.

Mystic Confluence is the newer take on Cryptic Command; it's not as good, but it's still really powerful and worth the look.

Past in Flames is a good way to finish out games by replaying your graveyard. Think of it as a Yawgmoth's Will for instants and sorceries.

Cyclonic Rift is the premium blue boardwipe in EDH. The expensive overload cost is a non-issue with your commander; be sure to abuse this to your advantage.

Vandalblast wipes out all your opponents' annoying artifacts in one go. Again the extra cost is negligible.

Fact or Fiction is a great card advantage tool. Especially if you have the ability to cast things from your graveyard using flashback, it makes the decisions even tougher for your unlucky opponent.

Preordain and Ponder are more powerful card advantage.

Mystical Tutor sets up your topdeck for exactly what you need next.

I suggest swapping out Clone, Crystalline Nautilus, Hypnotic Siren, Identity Thief, Living Lore, Simic Fluxmage, Spellheart Chimera, Volcanic Upheaval, Contradict, and Demolish.

1x Crystalline Nautilus and 2x Whelming Wave could really push performance to the max! Also, a playset of Raging Goblin and 3x Draco would guarantee victory.

So I was really interested by your article (though my friends thought it was stupid), coming up with a math equation to determine whether a card is good or not. I decided to find some cards with abilities you have not yet covered, and rate them.

Abattoir Ghoul: 0.875 (I decided his "whenever he kills a creature" ability to be worth half lifelink, so 1)

Accursed Spirit: 0.875 (I decided Intimidate was worth 2)

Araba Mothrider: 1.375 (I decided Bushido is worth it's value times two minus 0.5 [2V-0.5 if you want to get compacted])

Arashin Foremost 1.25 (I decided that the last ability is worth 1.5.)

Here are some downsides that I rated (the score is how much you subtract, not add).

At the beginning of the end step, sacrifice (Ball Lightning) = 3

Vanishing X (Aven Riftwatcher) = 5 - X

When ETB/As an additional cost, sac X creatures (Accursed Centaur) = 2X

Whenever it becomes the target of spell or ability, sacrifice it (Crystalline Nautilus) = 1.5

Echo (Goblin War Buggy) = 2

Legendary (Nicol Bolas) = 1.5

Attacks each turn if able (Riot Piker) = 1

Hope this helped!

Yeah, the AEther Figment does seem like the best choice, especially with AEther Vial in the deck, keeping it on 2 counters seems like the best play, so now there's another 2-drop you can get with it! Concerning the Door of Destinies, I do think it would be a little slow for the deck, but there's just so much power packed into it, I just had to suggest it. Oh, and speaking of suggesting things, you should add Crystalline Nautilus and Lurebound Scarecrow. They're pretty much just for a 4/4. The problem is that they're not illusions, so they won't be buffed by your tribal cards.

You can also try Crystalline Nautilus it's more on the offense but you can really use it. Sorry if I don't have much suggestions. lol

I think the biggest thing to think about when considering cuts is what your game plan is and then assess how each card works towards that plan. It looks like your plan is to go for an Enchanted/Equipped Commander, and hit in for damage. There's a control sub theme, but that doesn't seem huge. I think something to keep in mind is that while a Bestow creature can be cast as an aura, they are not auras in your hand/library/graveyard. They are only auras when they are on the stack after their bestow cost has been paid and when enchanting another creature.

I think the following cards don't really work with that theme:

Academy Researchers - They grab an enchantment, but they equip it to themselves. This is ok if the body is relevant, but a 2/2 with the enchantments you've got seems kinda meh. I'd consider cutting this guy. He doesn't help you pump the commander and he doesn't help you control the board.

Crystalline Nautilus - I feel like this card will lead to more feel bad moments than feel good ones. Sure you've got a big guy, but with 3 or 4 opponents someone will have a spell that can target your guy. It doesn't matter if the spell resolves or not, it's about if it gets targeted.

Disciple of the Ring - You're not running nearly enough Instants or Sorceries for this to matter. It's cool, but unless you can guarantee you're getting the affect when you need it, it's not worth running.

Mistfolk - I'm not sure I understand why this one is here. It's an irrelevant body. You're trying to beef up your commander, not some other guy.

Arcanum Wings - I feel like this would be really cool if you had expensive aurus to swap with it. I think you've only got one or two 4+ CMC auras, so the 3 mana aura swap ability is kind of useless for most of your auras.

Nyxborn Triton - This one seems kind of mediocre. It checks some boxes, but it's not great at the boxes it checks. I'd replace this with something with more splash. 5 mana to give something +2/+3 ain't great.

Nyxborn Shieldmate - See Nyxborn Triton

Glorious Anthem - This card is awesome in token decks, or decks that go wide. I think your deck is looking to go tall. I think this is an easy cut.

Bubbling Beebles - This is a tough cut, as it seems like a good thing to voltron up if your commander is removed somehow. However, I don't think you're really going to have to worry about that. I'd consider cutting this.

Ivory Mask - Hexproof on yourself is one of those things that can be really good or really wasted depending on the deck's you're playing. From looking at what everyone in the group is running, I don't know that hexproof would be extremely useful. If you're still looking for cuts, the self-hexproof cards might be worth looking at.

Aegis of the Gods - Ivory Mask

I feel like a lot of your enchantments aren't very splashy. Here's some Splashy ones to consider to replace some of the ones you've got:

Steel of the Godhead

Armored Ascension

Asha's Favor

Traveler's Cloak

Pentarch Ward

Some cards I forgot about in my original recommendations:

Sigil of the Empty Throne

Ajani's Chosen

I would also consider taking out Negate and Remove Soul for targeted removal. Reality Shift and Rapid Hybridization might be worth looking at.

You really don't need that Wall of Frost switch it out for a Crystalline Nautilus

UniqueUserID on Does Kavu Lair target?

Thought I'd better make sure... So Kavu Lair will let you draw if you summon a creature with 4 or more power. From what I've read on the wiki Kavu Lair doesn't seem to target the creature or even the player.

So will creatures such as Frost Walker and Crystalline Nautilus survive? Actually can triggered/static abilities even kill them?
