Circle of Despair

Enchantment

(1), Sacrifice a creature: The next time a source of your choice would deal damage to target creature or player this turn, prevent that damage.

You might like these: Species Specialist, Heirloom Blade, Remembrance, Deathrender, Nezumi Bone-Reader, Circle of Despair, Fanatical Devotion, Etchings of the Chosen, Second Sunrise, Immortal Servitude, Return to the Ranks, Rally the Ancestors, Pitiless Plunderer, Custodi Soulcaller, True Conviction, Cauldron of Souls (this one might seem odd with Athreos, but it actually makes opponents more likely to pay the 3 life. if they don't, the rats will return with a -1 counter, die again, and the opponent will have to pay 3 life again for each rat)

The 3 I would remove myself are:

The 3 I would add would be:

Circle of Despair would be great as well but the only thing I could think of removing for it is one of your proliferate cards. That’s up to you on that one. The Wanderer is more of a meta dependent card. If your playgroup uses a lot of direct damage then I would add it. Dawnstrider is the weakest link of all of them so if you feel the need to add it you’ll have to figure out that one. Other than that I would definitely add the 3 and if possible the circle as well. They truly are game winners, at least they really work for my walker deck. I used to run Atraxa as well but I switched to Sisay, Weatherlight Captain once that set was released.

Here’s a few other cards that are great for protecting your walkers:

Some of the best walker defenses are fog effects from:

Your win rate with these abilities protecting your boardstate would increase dramatically. Speaking from experience running them in my superfriends deck.

I’m gonna offer some advice from experience. I run 5 color superfriends as well and the the cards I’m gonna suggest are are simply the best way to protect your walkers that I have found. They fog effects from:

All or most of these in the deck will vastly increase your win rate.

I’ve always wanted to build a straight Orzhov deck but have just never been able to pick a commander or commit to it. But Kambal seems dope!

Some suggestions at first glance (not sure if this is the direction you want to go):

Axis of Mortality is hugely political and good be great in this deck. At 6 mana, it seems worth it to me for what it can do to change game dynamic plus give you some extra leverage against certain players.

Tree of Perdition is in the same vein as Axis.

Reverse the Sands , I’ve lost to this... I had more life than my opponent and he pulled this stunt as a trick and killed me when I thought I had him cornered. Super cool.

Magus of the Mirror A little different as that you most likely will never want to swap with an opponent since the goal here is for you to gain life, but you could always let your opponent have a feeling of false security and then swap at a pivotal moment.

And last but not least Soul Conduit same as magus

Other ideas since you should have lots of life:

Bolas's Citadel AMAZING VALUE Slaughter Soul Channeling Circle of Despair Temporal Extortion . This just seems like tons of fun to try and corner an opponent but also attempting to take an extra turn. I’d run it!

Honestly, I feel like the problem here is a lack of direction. What do you want to DO with this deck? How does doubling "tokens on death" triggers or "mana on death" triggers help you? How do you actually win, or do anything but durdle? It looks like an aristocrats deck, but does not have the necessary focus.

If you answer that question, I think that the deck will have much more coherency. Maybe I'm just missing the point of the deck, though - a better description would help ;) I'll come back and make more detailed suggestions when I know what the deck is striving to do.

Beyond that, Martyr's Cause is strictly better than Circle of Despair, and I would almost always run Anguished Unmaking over Vindicate :)

This is my WB tokens deck, for context - maybe you'll find something you like in it!

Hey KayneMarco thanks so much for your suggestions! (sorry I took so long to reply!)

I love Deadeye Navigator as a card but my concern is that it only synergizes with Deepglow Skate and Djeru, With Eyes Open and isn't very useful other than that. What do you think?

I can't argue with Captain Sisay I'll try and get a hold of her!

Archmage Ascension is interesting. I'll see what I can do!

Circle of Despair is incredible! I had no idea! That's exactly the kind of effect I've been looking for, I'll make fit it in somehow!

Do you have any suggestions on what I could remove?
