Chromescale Drake

Creature — Drake

Affinity for artifacts (This spell costs (1) less to play for each artifact you control.)

Flying

When Chromescale Drake enters the battlefield, reveal the top three cards of your library. Put all artifact cards revealed this way into your hand and the rest into your graveyard.

Chromescale Drake in foil is one of the coolest cards from that block. Cool deck, sent me down memory lane :D

This is indeed a very funny affinity deck. I can help here, friend. (:

I also think that you should replace Welding Jar, Shadowspear, and Gingerbrute either wil three copies of Welding Jar or three copies of Shadowspear, putting three copies of the other into your sideboard.

The main strategy I'd go with is generating large amounts of artifact tokens/creatures to win with either riches or crazy recursion loops with giant beaters, sacking a few myr or thopters with something like Champion of Stray Souls to bring back all your giant beasties. This is just a bunch of possible options that would help with that strategy.

MTGsoccer13 on Budget Grand Architect Aggro

I figured someone would bring it up, probably should have put it in the description. Although the combo of Grand Architect+ Pili-Pala is cute, it doesn't do what the deck is trying to do. The deck is designed to play like affinity and dump its hand then win by having bigger creatures than your opponent for the first few turns then closing it out with Smuggler's Copter and/or Throne of the God-Pharaoh. It would just slow down the deck too much, and while the Walking Ballista alternate win-con is cool, I just don't think the deck can support Pili-Pala. It would almost be like putting Chromescale Drake into affinity. It sounds cool and you can have a lot of blowouts and maybe another way to win, but it is just not what the deck is trying to do.However, a different deck that plays the combo could be done, I just don't think this is the right style deck for it.

Thanks for the suggestion though, herringtonr

Naksu on U/W Affinity Control?

How is this deck affinity, when there isn't a single affinity spell ? I also don't understand the reason for Mox Opal or Springleaf since you cap out at 3 cmc. Atleast take out the Thalias for a finisher like Metalwork Colossus etc.. Ethersworn Canonist is already filling Thalias shoes. Thoughtcast is a staple in affinity I think. Since the strong point of affinity is the ramp to strong stuff through artifacts, I recommend in to looking to these and figure out what you wan't from it: Mycosynth Golem, Chromescale Drake, Myr Enforcer and Frogmite to name a few. Good luck brewing, trial and error.. Trial and error.. :)
