Hey Man! Cool deck idea, perhaps I can help a bit.

First off, both Pyrohemia and Scourge of Kher Ridges as well as any way to recur them (in case they are destroyed or the board is wiped) are probably best here.

Obviously Firespout , Pyroclasm , Crush the Weak , Fiery Confluence and Anger of the Gods are good options for you to ping or clear boards. Some of the odd ones are Hail Storm and Magma Vein . Chaos Maw and Cinder Giant are cool options here as well.

Fights are great if you pick on smaller creatures, Gruul Ragebeast and Magus of the Arena come to mind here. As far as other creatures go, Raging Swordtooth is cool too.

Devastate is pricey but lets you build a board first. I'm not sure if Sporeweb Weaver is on your radar or not, but I hope it is now!

then the proper question would have been to ask how Chaos Maw is better than your current options, rather than ask how its good against aggro.

but how is Archfiend of Ifnir useful at all here? the only cycle or discard effects you have are Sire Of Insanity or Nahiri's Wrath . or the 2nd Archfiend of Ifnir if you draw it. so its highly unlikely you'll play 3 in a turn to get the same -3 as Chaos Maw .

and how are you "reliably" getting griselbrand into play turn 2 when the only early way you have of getting it into the grave is Entomb ?

It’s a good board wipe and I actually utilize it quite regularly, but I’ve found Archfiend of Ifnir to be more effective and repeatable with this particular deck. Not to mention it’s one sided. Chaos Maw only triggers once and my deck isn’t designed to make him repeatable. As far as Aggro matchups, I can reliably have Griselbrand on the field on turn two so he can both block Aggro creatures and gain life to compensate for pure burn. I’m confused because maybe there’s something I’m missing with how good Chaos Maw is. I just don’t see his value in this particular build. This is a grind deck designed for multiplayer. My goal is to take away hands and creatures and kill all five or six of my opponents one by one.

how are you confused by the phrase "improving your matchup against aggro"? do you mean you don't know "how" Chaos Maw helps against aggro? by being a board wipe, thats how.

I’m actually quite a fan of Chaos Maw but I’m not sure what you mean by improving against Aggro. Can you elaborate?

I believe that swapping out a Archfiend of Ifnir or a Sangromancer for a Chaos Maw could greatly improve your decks matchup against aggro decks. Otherwise cool deck!

I honestly dont know. If the opponents creature etbs first would its ability trigger before youre own creature etbs? Hopefully thats the case because otherwise Bishop of Binding is a terrible card to play in the deck. An example, since they choose bishop you get ghalta. Bishop exiles ghalta while you are most likely tapped out. The opponent swings for 13 on their following turn.

Just trying to figure out how dubious challenge works because I made a bant version of this but gave up since I didnt know who entered first and when their ability triggered. Yours deck looks great. Chaos Maw is really good if the opponents creature enters and its ability triggers before your bouncer etbs. But since idk the ruling, it could be awesome or it could be the worst card suggestion ever. Good luck!

I do like Sweltering Suns here. I used to run it with Radiant Flames. I run it as a 2 of in the side. The sideboard is basically different removal packages and will depend on your LGS meta...Which is why I didnt post a sideboard, although i can post cards i use. I vary the numbers, but the cards i like using are Chaos Maw, Never / Return, Fatal Push,Lightning Strike, Sweltering Suns, By Force, Archfiend of Ifnir, Cut / Ribbons, Vraska's Contempt, Unlicensed Disintegration, God-Pharaoh's Gift, Fumigate, Doomfall, Hour of Glory... hopefully you get the idea. It is just so i have the ability to change the removal package. Do people play a lot of artifacts? More by force and abrades. Weak agro and tokens? Sweepers. Gods? Exiles. Big dudes? Unlicense. Planeswalkers? Never return. Like i said before, it just depends on your meta =)
