I’m always a fan of using older/less-popular legends as commanders like: Lim-Dul the Necromancer , Joven , General Jarkeld , Cabal Patriarch , or even Questing Beast . They’re not always going to be as efficient or powerful, but they’ve got a lot of theme to work with and can catch people off guard (at a low investment cost). I’ve been deep down the theme hole, which is great if you enjoy it...but maybe just dip your toe in? Casual play is the best (probably only) place to try it...

If you want to really make Winota sing, the answer is tokens! She can only pull human cards out of your library, so the nonhuman versions of the same aren't pulling as much weight as they could. If you drop something like
Dragon Fodder
or
Raise the Alarm
, however, that means two creatures who get to dig for a big, powerful human when they attack! Cards like
Spectral Procession
and
Lingering Souls
just up the numbers even more from there. Sure, the tokens probably won't live through combat, but when they're replacing themselves with fatties like
Cabal Patriarch
,
Greven, Predator Captain
and
Kaervek the Merciless
... well, you probably won't mind too much!

Honestly, I kind of think WotC sort of chooses to have a planeswalker's spark ignite when it best suits them for story purposes. However, I know her dormant spark is what ultimately transformed her into Phage instead of outright dying at the hands of the Cabal Patriarch. So her spark was sort of active even prior to the sundering of Karona. And it was likely the immense amount of power concentrating in her when she re-emerged that actually ignited her spark.

Cabal Archon seems like a pretty strong card to include, kind of like a Kalastria Highborn for Clerics. Seems a bit better than Deathmark Prelate, since you're only running two Zombies in your list.
Order of the Ebon Hand is a pretty cool card. They're fairly aggressive, and inexpensive to cast. Early beater, or fuel for Dark Supplicant.
Funnily enough, the Cabal Patriarch isn't actually a Cleric, but he might be a flavorful hit for your deck enough that you might want to run him. He's a beefy 5/5 that you could accelerate out early with your rituals.
Blackmail is the one noncreature Cabal-themed card I could think of that's super useful. Turn one hand disruption is always a powerful opening.
