Birthing Hulk

Creature — Eldrazi Drone

Devoid (This card has no colour.)

When Birthing Hulk enters the battlefield, put two 1/1 colourless Eldrazi Scion creature tokens onto the battlefield. They have "Sacrifice this creature: Add to your mana pool." ( represents colourless mana.)

: Regenerate Birthing Hulk.

Shadowz6677 yeah the mana curve might be improved, it's possible to throw out Birthing Hulk and Giant Adephage for something cheap, maybe something to protect you a bit more in build-up like Fog or any removal

KALE434 That's a nice combo, I don't think it fits that well into the deck though... That combo gives me some other Ideas though :D

Homelessguy Second Harvest is good, it'll go into the deck :D

Crop Rotation and Realm Seekers are unfortunately not legal for Modern.

The thing with Tron is that you generally want to be casting big threats without relying too heavily on coloured mana lands. Splitting resources into getting both lands that produce coloured mana and a lot of colourless mana is never optimal. You're gonna have time casting your big guys like Prime Speaker Zegana and Overbeing of Myth if your lands tap for colourless.

So, the most optimal way for a Tron deck to get coloured mana is through artifacts. These are spells to cast with your Urza lands early in the game to get a foothold while devoting all your land searching to the colourless Tron lands. Spells like Chromatic Sphere, and possibly Chromatic Star should you be willing to shell out $20 for the set allow for quick, cheap fixing and what's better is that they replace themselves in your hand. As for more permanent fixing, Prophetic Prism is a great card to have, as it replaces itself and one more mana allows it to stick around. Mana Cylix, Prismatic Lens, and Simic Signet are other good fixing options.

Another benefit to having mostly artifacts in Green Tron is that you can run Ancient Stirrings, but at $5 a pop (another $20 for the set) it's far from budget. Sylvan Scrying is a really good fixing option in the realm of Sorceries, as you can grab any land you want.

Now you need some threats. Birthing Hulk is a great regenerating threat that gives you blockers to defend yourself while he gets in. Deepfathom Skulker can be a great way to grab some more cards and make your other threats sure to get in some damage. Steel Hellkite can really be devastating to our opponent, especially if they play aggro and fail to stabilize in time.

X spells, like Condescend, Repeal and Spell Burst are good. Rite of Replication has the possibility of closing out games, but watch out for Maelstrom Pulse.

I love Birthing Hulk as much as the next guy but you can get Eyeless Watcher for 3 mana less and still get the two scions(unless of course the birthing hulk WAS one of the ramp targets but it can easily be beat by most other giant eldrazi). i think that you could use more Titan's Presence and maybe try putting Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip to grab the giant creatures you need.I think Shrine of the Forsaken Gods isn't REALLY needed because you have scion/mana dork based ramp rather than land grab ramp where it is needed.

I would take out Birthing Hulk for 2x Pariah. Also maybe some number of Eldrazi Skyspawner? It is severely underrated. Nice flying body that comes with a Scion, and you can evolve it into a 5 mana creature. Maybe in place of Call the Scions? 1 of Grim Haruspex would also be nice!

Yea Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger is a 100% better card than Aetherwind Basker for its colorless, not too green heavy, and is a win con by himself. Personally I wouldn't use this for competitive. If you wanted to you should probably reconstruct it taking out Birthing Hulk, white in general. Put in Drowner of Hope in place for it since it can provide lethal by itself. Take out Eyeless Watcher. Overall its too janky to actually pull off any stunts. 4 planar bridges is a bad idea, since having multiple hurts. Maybe find a different method of ramp, to run planar bridge as a new deck idea.

Upgrade with Blooming Marsh also, and creature regen could be a pain for this deck. A Demon of Dark Schemes would not be a terrible choice, or Ever After. Alternatively, Birthing Hulk can be a pain once cast, because you can continually sacrifice it, then bring it back by sacrificing the two scions it just created.

Not sure if you knew, but Brood Monitor + Eldrazi Displacer was already a pseudo infinite combo, as Monitor could be bounced an infinite number of times, you just couldn't get infinite tokens. Other cards that work with this btw are Birthing Hulk and Drowner of Hope. All of which result in finite scions to sac for infinite mana. Other combos that you honestly should have seen before also include:

Thought-Knot Seer or Manic Scribe to mill them out.

Mausoleum Wanderer + bouncing spirits=infinite power creature.

Ninth Bridge Patrol gets big off of the combo itself.

Obsessive Skinner to make any creature you want infinitely big.

Ulvenwald Hydra or the new Wild Wanderer to tutor all, or at least most, lands out of your deck.

GOD DAMN Archangel Avacyn  Flip AND HER FAT, INDESTRUCTIBLE GRANTING ASS!

Sorry, as a partial black control player I like my Murder effects to be useful.

Incidentally, there are countless other win cons you get from your combo here that you can win with on the spot within the other 2 colors of the magic spectrum. 2 of which are even Eldrazi. (though as a heads up most of them are red)

Meren is awesome. One of my play group still runs a Meren deck that he's tuned. I never went so far as to totally tune my deck but some things to think about:

1) your average CMC is really high. If your getting overwhelmed by turn 4 you need to lower your CMC to give yourself some breathing room. To that end you should look at getting rid of some of the 6-8 cost creatures you have. Dread Defiler, Archdemon of Unx, Birthing Hulk, Scourge of Nel Toth. These should be replaced with lower CMC costs. You didn't say there is a budget but lets be honest everybody prefers cheaper cards if they can. Spore Frog I HATE this card...mainly because I didn't know it existed while I played Meren now its always recurrable. From Beyond for example.

2) There are a few cards that you will probably find hardly get played because there are better options in hand. Eldrazi Monument its cost is 5 and in theory should be amazing but if I need indestructable creatures with Meren its probably because I don't have enough chumps I want to be sacraficing anyway.

3) Meren is all about exploiting the enter the battlefield trigger or sacrafice triggers. Kessig Cagebreakers, and Viridian Emissary are harder to exploit.

4) now for the weird fun stuff (ie more costly fun stuff) My friend runs Rune-Scarred Demon and Blade of Selves. The blade is just universal good stuff in meren decks where everything wants to be an enter the battlefield trigger. I've put the blade on the duplicant and completely exiled other peoples board states. It costs a bit though. the demon in black decks is just sweet. One of my personal favorite cards is the Avenger of Zendikar. (do you see some of my hypocrasy? yes lower your CMC but put in these giant creatures!!)

If you would like other ideas let me know and I can post some more but you need to think about what type of game you want to play and let people know. I ran Meren with a token strategy hence the avenger. My friend runs more control type of strategy he uses things like dictate of erebos and the butcher etc.

Hope this helps,Tree
