Hello all,

Lately me and my colleagues hat thought, that it would be fun to play Pauper EDH. The rules are regular - one commander, one piece of any card (except for basic lands), only commons and uncommons, cards cannot be worth more that $5 each.

And I've came up with something strange (and hopefully cool).

I would like to shoot my opponents out with the Hallar, the Firefletcher, giving him as much +1/+1 counters as I can, with cards like Battlegrowth, Burst of Strength or Solidarity of Heroes, along with few enchantments like Hydra's Growth or Forced Adaptation. The basic idea is:

What do you think, should I cut out few ramping spells in order to put even more kicker, although they are not that consistent with that deck?

I would highly recommend an Experiment Kraj deck. If you go the route with creatures that have Monsterous, then you can have an insane amount of fun.

For example, if you sink 11 mana into Hydra Broodmaster , you'll get 5x 5/5 green Hydra tokens. Then, Experiment Kraj gets the activated Monsterous ability as well, meaning you can dump mana into that sucker next turn and make even more Hydra tokens! :D

And since Kraj doesn't discriminate because he's a good boi living in 2019, he takes all activated abilities from ALL creatures that have a +1/+1 counter on them - not just the ones you control.

I'm not sure off-hand if there are cards that allow you to put +1/+1 counters on other creatures that your opponents control, but I imagine there must be at least a few out there that do.

Just checked. I found Pollenbright Druid . So they do exist. As does Arbor Armament , Battlegrowth , Burst of Strength ... So yes they do exist, you'll just have to look for them.

My two cents:

(1) you need more evasion. You have a metric ton of +1/+1 counters, which is great... but only 2-3 things that give trample and only 1-2 other pieces of evasion. Against the wrong deck, you'll get chump blocked all day. These specific cards are mostly just examples, but consider adding unblockable ( Suspicious Bookcase , Whispersilk Cloak ); deathtouch ( Gorgon Flail , Nightshade Peddler ); trample / multi-purpose ( Loxodon Warhammer , Haunted Cloak ).

(2) you need more protection. Everyone will gun for your doggo, knowing that it's your whole win-con. You have a few things, but not enough IMO. Add more indestructible ( Hammer of Nazahn ) and hexproof ( Mask of Avacyn , Archetype of Endurance ).

I'd suggest culling some of the +1/+1 cards - especially one-shot like Battlegrowth . Also, shroud isn't great with voltron because you can't target/enchant/equip, so I'd lose Lightning Greaves and Aspect of Mongoose .

Looks like a fun deck!

One of the State-based Actions that are routinely checked and performed is that if a creature has both +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters an equal number of each are removed until only one type remains. Keep in mind again that counters are only placed if the effect specifies counters, and that other types of P/T changing counters (usually from older cards) are not included in this.

Blur of Blades and Battlegrowth WILL remove each other's counters.

Afflict WILL NOT remove the counter from Battlegrowth .

The counters from two Blur of Blades and the counter that Baron Sengir gives himself WILL NOT remove each other.

I would suggest Arbor Armament over Battlegrowth, because it grants reach. Good deck!

8 Burst of Strength? maybe replace 4 of them with Bond Beetle ? or another +1/+1 like Battlegrowth, it is an instant.

Funkydiscogod unfortunately Vines of Vastwood is as expensive as Blossoming Defense. I don't want non-dinosaurs, those humans are the only exception, however you identified a huge problem that is the poor ramp. Perhaps I need some Overgrowth, I don't know. Well this combo for dino tokes is very interesting, maybe we can improve it making faster, what do you think about Battlegrowth/Burst of Strength/Nahiri's Machinations/Ordeal of Purphoros + Fire Whip/Power of Fire?
