Baleful Eidolon Discussion

Kogarashi on Cast Satyr Firedancer as enchantment

It should also be pointed out that enchanting a creature (or other game object) isn't an inherent property of all enchantments, but rather a specific ability you'll find printed on (or errata'd for older cards) Auras, and on creatures via the Bestow ability.

Raid Bombardment, for example, is an enchantment, but you can't use it to enchant a creature because it doesn't have the "enchant creature" ability.

Curse of Verbosity is an aura, but you can't use it to enchant a creature because the relevant ability is "enchant player," not "enchant creature." Abundant Growth is an aura, but says "enchant land," not "enchant creature."

Meanwhile Aether Tunnel does have "enchant creature," and thus can be enchanted to a creature. Same with the Bestow ability on Baleful Eidolon (note that Bestow says "it's an Aura with enchant creature").

Oh if you don't like brain maggot then Gnarled Scarhide, Baleful Eidolon, Spiteful Returned or Nighthowler would all be fine...

I'm not the best at making EDH decks. Here's a website that shows recommended cards for EDH decks, based off of other people's decks: edhrec.com

However, briefly looking through the deck it looks like you have generic cards in there that don't really have synergy with your commander like Baleful Eidolon or Marang River Skeleton. You might want some more lands since a typical EDH land base is around 36-42 lands. Since have very few ways to ramp, you'll to up your lands and draw-power. Also you don't have that many cards that can protect you or screw over your opponent. Having some Artifact and Enchantment removals are important.

how about starting your curve lower? Typhoid Rats is still with your theme. Bloodsoaked Champion can come back from your graveyard after you attack. Spiteful Returned, Baleful Eidolon Gurmag Swiftwing for 2 drops. maybe max your curve out at 3 or 4 but not too high or too many of that cost. that way you can play more of your lower cost spells quicker and more often. also, do you want to play kill spells or discard? Duress is cheap, Despise as well. Victim of Night, Disfigure, Geth's Verdict are all pretty cheap to own and can get the job done for killing creatures. these are only suggestions, i'm not trying to tell you to change your whole deck at all. anyhow, take care and have fun playing. that's most important.

Arvail on New EDH League!

If you look at most EDH decks, the bulk of their cards fall on the 2 to 4 CMC slots. I would try out stuff like Kami of the Waning Moon, Hired Muscle, Farbog Revenant, Crypt Ghast, Baleful Eidolon, Lost Soul, Mindwarper, Morkrut Banshee, Nether Shadow, Pale Rider of Trostad, Searchlight Geist, Keening Banshee, Souldrinker, Skulking Ghost, Thief of Hope, Vampiric Spirit, Wicked Akuba, Death Denied, Horobi's Whisper, Soulless Revival, Three Tragedies, Swallowing Plague.

Everything else is too expensive or pretty terrible.

A W/B enchantment Pauper deck with Grim Guardian always appealed to me, so this list is pretty cool. A couple things:

Spiteful Returned is not pauper-legal. It has only been printed at uncommon. I'd probably replace with Hopeful Eidolon or Baleful Eidolon.

Pillory of the Sleepless is much stronger than Stab Wound. You want to maximize life drain while also removing the creature, which it executes far better than SW.

Including a copy or two of Unmake to the sideboard is strong backup removal in case your opponents are heavy on enchantment hate and your O-Rings no longer work.
