Thank you for your answer. And I have another question ^^. Do you think, that building a Mana Base, out of "Gate-Lands" could be promising? Gond Gate , Baldur's Gate and Citadel Gate, as well as others seem to have a promising Mana-output in my opinion. Although I do not think, that they can reach to the level of the Mana base you build. Just for consideration.

Cheers

You can be cute and do Ritual type stuff with Baldur's Gate, you can pump a dude with Basilisk Gate, and If you're running Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph you can do some sheniaghans with Crackling Perimeter also works with similar commanders like torbran

I have come to remind you that the Baldur's Gate set came out! Granted, some of these are slightly more expensive than a regular gate, but not by very much.

  • Gond Gate is going to make your deck a lot faster. Like, a lot.

  • Baldur's Gate. Need I say anything more? Won't help with your win condition, but it's still loads of mana.

  • Citadel Gate, Sea Gate, Black Dragon Gate, , Cliffgate, and Manor Gate are just better than the standard gates.

  • Basilisk Gate could protect a creature of yours if you're not ready for it to die yet, or if you want to swoop in for the kill. These three last ones are kinda meh, but they're here.

  • Thran Portal is probably just not worth the 1 ping a turn. It's not crazy bad, but eh.

  • Heap Gate is cool, but not super necessary.

Gond Gate and Baldur's Gate seem like must haves, as well as perhaps the Sea Gate cycle from the same set

Sorry to be the be area of bad news, but unfortunately the land side of double side cards is not the one that counts toward card type so Bala Ged Sanctuary  Flip is technically an instant card, not a land card. Speaking of lands, I know you’re building on a budget, but you can do better than thrive lands and life lands. A great budget way to do this would be going with gates now that cards like Baldur's Gate and Gond Gate make gates much better and the rest of the new gates are pretty much thrive lands but with gate synergies. Splurge on Maze's End and you even have an alternate wincon. Throw in Crackling Perimeter and Guild Summit and you’ll really be rolling. Also, a few basic lands are a good idea just in case someone uses Path to Exile or a similar effect on you it’s not wasted.

I totally get building on a budget, but there are ways to do so and retain playability.

No love for Baldur's Gate?

Hav0cD3m0n thank you for the suggestion!

Field of the Dead - I like the idea of this card as a potential win condition, especially with Scapeshift you could make a ton of zombies. But I personally think that it would be very difficult to time, and kind of hard to maintain with child. I think it generally breaks parity with how this deck is played.

Thespian's Stage, Vesuva - Now I really like these, and I've specifically considered Vesuva in the past, but I don't think they would fit the current list. Copying Maze's End can get us gates faster, but I often have to hold Maze's End in hand because of cards like Field of Ruin. Making copies of our Baldur's Gate, or Basilisk Gate seems good, but is it worth the slot? It's something I would have to test, but I can't think of any situations where I would want to tutor for it.

I really appreciate the input, and if you find yourself playing a copy of this deck anywhere for whatever reason definitely let me know your experience! I keep meaning to flesh out the description and add a serious primer. It's in the works, but I'm very very busy with work

Dafuqover it's not a bad suggestion at all. To be honest, I've kind of dropped this brew as I found the combo aspect too restrictive and 'non-interacting' with the other players. I've started a new deck Jodah, high CMC tribal, which generally focuses on just high CMC spells and cards that interact with high CMC stuff.

Honestly, I think also for 5 color decks it just makes a lot more sense otherwise to just go for gate lands tribal, as the new Gond Gate basically fixes all the drawbacks of the gates, and you get a multicolor 'Cabal Coffers' in Baldur's Gate, while there are plenty of ramp spells that still work perfectly fine with gates.
