Aurochs Discussion

Mcabe on $11 Green Ramp [LilGuy Pauper]

I think that maindeck naturalizes are bad, I like Maul Splicer as a ramp pay off. Ambush Viper and Aurochs seem bad. Maybe Greater Sandwurm would be better. Sprout Swarm deserves at least sideboard inclusion.

You could try Elvish Guidance, Quirion Ranger both can be used the turn they enter.

I also like Aurochs Herd, since once you have enough mana you can just keep churning them (I also like having one Aurochs so not to waste that last Aurochs Herd tutor thing)

Yeah, quickest win would be turn 4 Dk1997 with:

Turn 1: Play Forest tap for Arbor Elf (End with 5 cards in hand)

Turn 2: Play Forest tap for Wild Growth Targeting the other Forest. Tap that Forest (for 2 mana), tap Arbor Elf to untap the Forest then tap it again for a total of 4 mana. Spend 1 mana on Quirion Ranger, 3 on Elvish Guidance. Return Forest to hand untap Arbor Elf, untap the Forest with Wild Growth and now Elvish Guidance using Arbor Elf. Tap that Forest for 4 mana play another Arbor Elf and Elvish Guidance (targeting the same Forest). (End with Forest in Hand)

Turn 3: Topdeck an Aurochs Herd, play the Forest returned to your hand last turn. Tap the now 8 mana producing Forest (2 Elvish Guidance x 3 Elves in play = 6 + 2 (1 from the Forest mana generating ability, 1 from Wild Growth). Untap it and tap it twice with the 2 Arbor Elf. Then tap the other Forest, use Quirion Ranger to return that Forest to your Hand and then untap an Arbor Elf for a total of 33 green mana. Play Aurochs Herd, search for another and then continue playing and searching until you have to search for Aurochs. This using 28/33 (6x4+4) of the mana.

Turn 4: Attack for a total of 38 trample damage. (This could also be done with 18 mana generated on turn 3 (with 21 damage from 3 Aurochs))

Not as good as your turn 2 win Turn 2 pauper win. But I got a turn 3 win with the nearly the same combo as this one I just described (using Utopia Sprawl instead of Wild Growth) in this Firecasting Pauper Elves deck.
