Ardenvale Tactician

Creature — Human Knight

Flying

(You may cast Ardenvale Tactician from exile if you sent it on an adventure.)

Dizzying Swoop

Instant — Adventure

Tap up to two target creatures.

(You may cast Dizzying Swoop for from anywhere that you have the permission to cast this, then exile it on an adventure instead of putting it into your graveyard. When you have not chosen to cast Dizzying Swoop, this card is treated only as Ardenvale Tactician in whatever zone it is in.)

(Example scenarios for Dizzying Swoo; You may cast this off of Melek, Izzet Paragon. You may not target this with Snapcaster Mage. Thalia, Guardian of Thraben increases the cost of this. Electrodominance requires X=2. You may cast this from a cascade spell if the spell has a cost greater than Ardenvale Tactician's cost. If you cast a Dizzying Swoop that another player owns, only you may cast the Ardenvale Tactician that got sent on an adventure, not the owner.)

Nice. But the correct format name is Friendly Pauper Brawl.

I would add at least two more lands.

Some other cards to improve the deck:

+1 from me.

+1...I think you need a lot more permanents to fully take advantage of your commander's ETB. Ampryn Tactician and Warded Battlements go along with your overrun strategy. Answered Prayers, Basri's Acolyte and Ardenvale Tactician are a few examples that you might consider.

Pill0wDipsauce on Syr Gwyn Super Budget Tribal Extravaganza ($30)

Came by this deck while looking for budget ideas for my own Gwyn deck.

I'd say, leave the deck be if it's already doing alright in your meta and you're having fun with it. There are some things that stand out to me though:

You don't have boardwipes in your deck. These will help a lot in surviving the first 7 turns of the game, something you say you have issues with. Mythos of Snapdax, Divine Reckoning and Single Combat are my suggestions. At the bare minimum, get four boardwipes. You can cut some of your creatures for these. Don't forget about single target removal either, I put some in the suggestions below.

Looking at your mana curve: it's quite low, which is a good thing. This means you can cut down on some of the basic lands and go from 40 to something like 36/37. If you can, replace them with more signets or talismans, but cards like Boros Cluestone, Commander's Sphere and Darksteel Ingot are fine too. Try to go for eight mana sources which are not lands.

When selecting creatures to cut to make room for other cards, decide which cards will have an impact when you play them and which won't. As you play the deck, you'll learn more about cards which work and which don't (that's the fun of deckbuilding). I suspect Rimrock Knight won't have much of an impact (You'd rather have another equipment instead), Crashing Drawbridge can be replaced with an equipment which gives haste. In my own Gwyn deck I got rid of Bloodcrazed Paladin because I held on to it instead of playing it. Ardenvale Tactician doesn't look like it'll do much either. I think you'll be fine with somewhere around 25 creatures to make room for more equipment and removal.

You can ditch a card like Rowan, Fearless Sparkmage as well, you can replace the +1 ability with equipment. Don't play the planeswalker for the ult, as your opponents have four whole turn cycles to find an answer for it.

I've listed some more (budget) suggestions below, you'll figure it out: Evolving Wilds

Terramorphic Expanse

Buried Ruin

Mortuary Mire

Chariot of Victory

Murder

Thalia's Lancers

Mortify

Unlicensed Disintegration

Inquisitor's Flail (use only with first strike/double strike or when you have a way to make your creature indestructible)

Despark

Knights of the Black Rose

Glaring Spotlight (I think it might be a good card as a finisher, but haven't won a game with it yet)

Fireshrieker

Knights' Charge

Sign in Blood

SquirrelPenguin on How does Duh interact with …

So yesterday, I was using a black splash green deck with my silver bordered cards and wanted to use Duh on an Ardenvale Tactician or a Foulmire Knight, and we couldn't figure it out. the instant half of the card has reminder text but the creature doesn't.

SlitherySnek on Winota, Human Tamers

Master Splicer seems a bit slow and out of place. Trying to cast it normally without a Winota trigger seems to always put me off curve. When I have been play testing this deck, it's always the first card I sideboard out. Maybe cutting it and looking for another human instead like Ardenvale Tactician that way you could send use it for its adventure spell first. Also, maybe a card like Bounty Agent would give you more utility against all of the legendary creatures coming in Ikoria. Apostle of Purifying Light might make for a good sideboard against black. Maybe even cards like Fervent Champion, Fresh-Faced Recruit, Ghor-Clan Wrecker, Haazda Marshal, Hero of Precinct One, or Inspiring Captain might help you curve out a stay aggressive a little better than some of your other choices like Agent of Treachery. Just suggestions.

Suave321 on Mardu Speed Knights (MTG Arena Build)

I have a similar knight deck that is Standard legal. If you like flying a nice add with some added control is Ardenvale Tactician. I'm debating removing Order for same reason as you, as well as thinking of replace the 2x Acclaimed Contender as they are a little slower and lower impact that I was originally hoping. Some other good adds to look at would be Stormfist Crusader for added card draw (I often find myself with no cards in hand due to the speed of the deck) and Wintermoor Commander for the added Indestructible ability. Good combo is running Blacklance Paragon + Fervent Champion . Also using Syr Gwyn, Hero of Ashvale with various equipment cards makes for good buffing mechanics and helps recover from opponent creature destruction/control. Food for thought!!

how about Ardenvale Tactician? it can help your knights avoid some blockers.

FSims81 on Heliod Devotion

I'd try something like

4x Alseid

3x Heliod

3x Daxos

3x Taranika, Akroan Veteran

4x Ardenvale Tactician

3x Hero of the Pride

2x Reverent Hoplite

4x Shepherd of the Flock

4x Banishing Light

4x Indomitable Will

4x All That Glitters

This might be a little more competitive to start. I wouldn't worry about the Altar of the Pantheon at all. Yes, it boosts devotion but you don't need mana fixing and you're only playing white so your devotion should always be good. You might even be able to cut down to 22 lands because you'll want to be fast with this deck. All that Glitters should be great because you'll have a lot of enchantments, and Shepherd of the Flock's adventure will let you save anything from removal, including Heliod.
