Arcane Bombardment

Enchantment

Whenever you cast your first instant or sorcery spell each turn, exile an instant or sorcery card at random from your graveyard. Then copy each card exiled with this. You may cast any number of the copies without paying their mana costs.

Darkling Spells - Geyadrone Oathbreaker

It started off as Wizards, wandered into Reanimator, lost focus, found Arcane Bombardment, and ended up in Spellslinger. This was a journey, and the end result probably isn't going to win any design awards, but it's finished.

I like Recursion as a colorless mechanic, so:

Pulse of the Blind Eternities

Sorcery

Recursion 4

Discover 4. If this spell is a copy of a card in exile with no void counters on it, instead discover 10 and the discovered spell gains cascade.

The wording makes this go a little bonkers with Arcane Bombardment, but this was the best way I could word it.

Next challenge: Make a non-colorless card with Recursion.

Epic says you won't be able to cast any more spells. On your upkeep, Epic will trigger and put a copy of the epic spell onto the stack without the epic ability, and without casting it. Since it isn't cast, Arcane Bombardment won't trigger. If any similar abilities (like Panoptic Mirror) let you cast copies of cards from exile, you would not be able to do so.

Hi,

This is my first time posting a question here, and unsure if this question has already been answered. However, I was curious to how casting an epic spell would interact with Arcane Bombardment while on the stack on each of my upkeeps.

Example, let's say I have Arcane Bombardment on the field, and had the following random spells exiled:

Lightning Bolt, Tragic Slip, etc

Then lets say I played Neverending Torment. Obviously this would trigger Arcane Bombardment before it resolves on the stack casting spells exiled previously. Now, it's my next turn and on my upkeep I would cast a copy of Neverending Torment that doesn't have the epic ability. Would that copy being casted trigger Arcane Bombardment or would the oracle text ruling for the epic ability prevent the other spells from being casted?

I know that activated abilities would allow you to copy the copied casts of any Epic spells, but wasn't sure if that would also mean triggered abilities would work to bypass epic ruling.

Thanks for taking the time to read and/or answer my question!

amarthaler Thank you! I tried those draw/treasure cards before, but my main issue with them is that they weren't really repeatable as I don't have any recursion and the deck is not spell slinger-y enough to play Arcane Bombardment. Instead I decided to go for more exile since it synergizes better with my commander anyway. I think The Reaver Cleaver could be a decent addition tho! Even if I don't really plan on attacking for 90% of the game, it could always come in handy. My main issue then would just be that most of my creatures are synergy pieces before anything else, so I wouldn't want to risk them dying in combat if possible. I could still give it a shot tho :D

Poison the Cup's pretty sick since it can remain foretold for a while and it's a 100% assured cast from exile removal spell. I'll definitely look into that one!

Oh nice, you got the Wizards of Thay? Might be worth checking out Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar (as Balmor makes him a threat and you can take out multiple people with one swing), Thousand-Year Storm/Arcane Bombardment and maybe some other classic Storm spells? There are plenty of other good cantrips plus Past in Flames and Mizzix's Mastery to recast them all from the graveyard. I like the rapier but if you can find one Embercleave will mop up, while Robe of the Archmagi keeps your hand full.

My "spells matter" deck is There's Something Strange... and you might find a couple of useful things there but it's almost completely focused on doing the opposite - casting massive apocalyptic spells that annihilate the board rather than loads of cheap cantrips for a prowess win.

Fated Return and Ready / Willing are good for creatures. Professor Onyx, Thousand-Year Storm, and Arcane Bombardment work very well together if you have a critical mass of instants and sorceries.
