Triton on Wincons in Aegar

Hi all!

I've been enjoying playing Aegar, the Freezing Flame, but I would appreciate more ways of winning. I wrote up a quick primer while I was at it to help explain my card choices for better suggestions.

Repercussion is an easy choice, however I want to find more than just that.

Deck in question:

Commander / EDH Triton

@Reltzs: Thanks for your comments! not sure how the mechanic of Rings of Brighthearth work: does it mean that ghyrson deals an additional two damage (so 4 altogether) once one damage has been dealt? Does it mean that a pinger like for example Gelectrode gets to deal two times 1 damage for one tap?

@Dre4mc4tcher: Aegar, the Freezing Flame looks like a nice addition. Thanks a lot!

After getting my hands on Mystical Tutor i just had to put it in this deck. My main issue i have with this card now is: What should i actually tutor with it? While being in the mid- or lategame it's obviously something to answer threads, a missing combo piece, protect myself or straight out something to close the game. But what if i have Mystical Tutor in my starting hand? So far i usually got Fierce Guardianship with it as i consider this spell the most powerful one in my deck. But it kinda looses its surprise effect, once everybody knows that i have it in my hand. which card would you chose? or would you even wait and keep it in your hand and play it later?

Have a look at Aegar, the Freezing Flame and Fang Dragon I like them alot but do not see them played very often.

Tryptic on Second Wind Control

For some reason I was expecting to see Second Wind lol.

Looks alright, although it's a little light on payoffs. I like Oneirophage for decks like this, or Sprite Dragon. Of course the famous one is The Locust God.

This also might be good with Aegar, the Freezing Flame to let you burn things and draw cards at the same time. 4 copies of Irencrag Pyromancer almost seem required, and if you combo him with Aegar you could do quite a lot of drawing and killing things.

Delphen7 on Excess Damage to an Indestructible …

Say Player A controls some card that cares about excess damage, like Aegar, the Freezing Flame. Player B controls a 1/1 creature with Indestructible, and no other abilities.

If Player A casts Lightning Bolt on B's creature, then Aegar will trigger as that creature has been dealt excess damage.

If Player A casts another Lightning Bolt on that same creature, is this instance of damage considered excess (thus triggering Aegar)?

Nice deck. +1 from me.

As you are already playing Aegar, the Freezing Flame what about Toralf, God of Fury  Flip.

If I control Aegar, the Freezing Flame and attack with a Craven Giant and my opponent blocks with two 2/1's, would I draw 2 cards from both of them being dealt excess damage?
