Hello everyone! It's me again.

Now unfortunately I write this week's article with a tinge of sadness. I will have to take a short leave of absence, as my life is being quite uncooperative with my time. I know the break will last at least 2 weeks, but thankfully it should not exceed a month. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, though, don't they?

Now now, don't cry readers(all ten of you). I have a small and probably somewhat predictable surprise waiting for you at the end of the article, so keep calm and carry on until then, okay?

Now onto the reason you're all here. I really like some of the flavor of these cards, so I'm going to cut out my customary commentary in between cards. It's almost always just dry and inconsequential blabber, anyways. I'll just step aside and let the flavor do the talking. I really enjoyed doing Theros, and I saw some suggested places we visit next. I'll keep an eye on the comments for any suggestions for future entries in this series.

Without further ado, let's get started.

10: Medomai the Ageless

To most, time is a limited resource. To Medomai, it is as bountiful as an ocean.

9: Psychic Intrusion

"I prayed each night hoping that I could suppress the paranoia I felt. My prayers were answered, but by whom I couldn't say."

8: Shipbreaker Kraken

It was as if the ocean itself had risen with fury and presented itself to the sailors. No-one moved as they bore witness to the end of their world.

7: Polukranos, World Eater

Hoplites watched on in terror. Demons watched on in amusement. The Gods watched on in awe.

6: Colossus of Akros

"I raised myself over the hill to see a man standing before me, and only as I came closer I realized it wasn't a man, but a great statue in the distance. Truly, a fitting sentry for the gods." - Travelers journal, page 324.

5: Dragon Mantle

Even upon the unworthy, the Gods can betroth gifts.

4: Master of Waves

The tide came in, and with a snap of his fingers, never went out again.

3: Underworld Cerberus

"As... descended the pa... ...o Hades, I couldn't help but think w... ...gotten something important." - Bloody page torn from a journal.

2: Whip of Erebos

Erebos is Death's Puppeteer. A whip serves as his string.

1: Evangel of Heliod

"Your prayers to Heliod have been heard, my children. The brothers and sisters at your side are his answer."

Last winner before my sabbatical. Congrats TheVectornaut!(Slightly edited)

Rescue from the Underworld

For the first Champions, 'going to hell and back' meant triumph over a great hydra or cyclops. Now though, the phrase has taken on a more literal meaning.

Now since it's gonna be a few weeks until the next article, I figured I would have not one, but TWO challenges to tide you over until next time. Good luck:

Gift of Immortality

Chained to the Rocks

This article is a follow-up to Flavor Kitchen: Theros Part 1 The next article in this series is Flavor Kitchen: Shards of Alara

Okay, I am mildly regretful that I didn't participate in this before, but I'll try my hand this time.

Gift of Immortality "Complete the task of a god and you will receive the highest of honors."

Chained to the Rocks "'The test of the falling rocs' has taken many a would-be hero."

And to add a personal favorite art-wise, I give you:

Reap Intellect "To know their pain merely enriches the flavor." -Mirko Vosk

Success!

Gift of Immortality: "I won't let you die on me just yet. There is work to be done." -Heliod, God of the Sun

Chained to the Rocks: It isn't the scorching sun or ceaseless hunger that make it such a cruel punishment; it's the unbearable silence of the mountaintop that does.

Congratulations TheVectornaut!

Gift of Immortality: Many would argue about the meaning of this "gift." Only the young and naive would ask for such a burden.

Chained to the Rocks: The gods always ignore one's spontaneous devotion when they are faced with extreme pain and the potential for death.

Gift of Immortality You have killed me. You seem exhausted by the effort.

I don't think I can offer one better than ersatz_olorin's for Chained to the Rocks: "For his hubris, the Gods trapped him far above all other mortals."

The Whip of Erebos one was particularly cool, nice work!

Gift of Immortality - "Heliod's blessing triumphs over Erebos' grip."

Chained to the Rocks "A carrion would feast on him daily, only for the gods to restore his wounds. A divine punishment indeed."
