Alrighty, so it seems that spoiler scene is overshadowing our modern discussion, which I totally understand. However, that does not mean that I am going to pause it, as I would love to jump into standard brews ASAP, and this deck is quite interesting in my opinion. So, as presented before, we are doing Jund Scapeshift. The next question is how we will be building Jund. Will we go with the Loam deck, or the straight Scapeshift deck. Maybe even a Midrange build with a beatdown backup. Either way, I am extremely excited to see the result. So, time for the choices:

The Choices: Loam

Life from the Loam - The co-centerpiece to Scapeshift here. This card allows us to dig to assemble lands, and for our other win conditions. A card that again and again displays it’s power. This card is the set up to our combo. Truly an asset not to be ignored.

Worm Harvest - This card is the butter to Loam's Bread. Allowing us to capitalize off of Dredge and provides us as a wincon outside of Scapeshift, not to mention a resilient win condition. We don't however want to allot too many spots to it as we will find it digging pretty quickly. 1 or 2 should suffice.

Lightning Storm - This card is used as a wincon in mainly Ad Nauseum but I believe that here it can serve as a wincon. With the lands you will be accumulating from Life from the Loam, this card easily can threaten 23 damage off of a Life from the Loam with a hand of all lands. A card I definitely want to try as it improves consistency.

Countryside Crusher - This card can allow us to know what we may be hitting with a Loam and if we are drawing a wincon. It also serves as its own possible wincon and powerhouse as it is really easy to combo off with as it easily pounds our opponents. Definitely one of the more powerful enablers in the deck.

Bloodghast - Here we have our more aggressive version that allows us to recursively attack our opponent keeping them under pressure whilst we slam them, whether we play this card depends on whether we go with the resilient beatdown list or the fast list.

Tarmogoyf - It’s Tarmogoyf… Need I say any more? Anyways again this cards fate hangs in the decision on which list we run.

Raven's Crime - This card allows us to make use of extra lands in our hand and it keeps our opponent in check as we assemble our combo. A great card, and something I think we may need to push through slow draws.

The Choices: StraightShift

Abrupt Decay - Now we have ways to slow down storm and halt midrange/aggro. Abrupt Decay is truly one of the best assets we gain. It can also stop their True Believers and such from ending our hopes.

Thoughtseize - Allows us to keep our opponent off of their stuff when we are setting up our own combo. It also can take out their answers to the combo and is generally just great at most points of the game. Definitely one of the bigger reasons to play Jund Scapeshift.

Dark Confidant - Ole’ Bobby. This card is again and again cited along Goyf as some of the best magic cards of all time. Here Bob will ramp us through our setup spells and dig for our wincons. Definitely a card to consider, but also to be wary of as we do have some high costing stuff.

The Conclusion

All in all I favor the loam build for fun factor and versatility. I think that the other build may be simpler and possibly more consistent. I am extremely excited to see where this heads!

Finally, Remember to post a deck for me to play against as well as the gauntlet.

But Wait… There’s More

Completely off topic but I wanted to post a quick list of cards I think should be watched for price fluctuations.

Spirit of the Labyrinth - With all the new extra draw spells, this card may see increased play in Standard.

Ethereal Armor - So many low costed enchantment creatures, just wow.

Master of the Feast - This card may be a huge boon for Mono Black as it provides a huge body that is a bit more consistent than Desecration Demon, although it does provide them with card draw.

Notion Thief - The new card draw spells are making this guy seem increasingly good.

Xathrid Necromancer - Athreos, God of Passage is just what the doctor ordered to power up BW Humans and/or Junk Aristocrats. Either way I can see this card becoming hugely powerful, and is my #1 pick for a price spike.

Anyways…

Lets get brewing!

I wanted to see a Faith's Reward + Scapeshift build. Are we not doing that?

Their is still the chance of that if many people get behind it but as of the time their were more votes for Jund than anything else so that is what I decided on writing about. So yes we can still do it, but i'd need more people to get behind it

Just saying Seismic Assault generally trumps Lightning Storm , and it's not too terribly difficult to build a jund manabase that can support it.

Also, do you want this deck to possibly go creatureless? If we have a Scapeshift /Seismic Assault win, that could be pretty powerful.

I'm with Matsi883 with the Faith's Reward Scapeshift . I'm interested to see how much ramp is needed and how quickly it can be accomplished.

Also a deck for you to play against:

I'm really liking the discussion so far. Scapeshift is easily one of my favorite archetypes.

I like the idea of a Seismic Assault Loam build as well, but I can see how Faith's Reward would be an interesting archetype. What would the color scheme for that be, Junk? Naya? Or something else.
