EDH Generals

(1) Zur the Enchanter

It was hard to pick generals for power vs. fun, but anything that considers power at all has to include Zur. He easily marches past Glissa, the Traitor

vs.

(8) Oona, Queen of the Fae

Oona breezes by Child of Alara, setting up this matchup between two very high powered, competitive EDH generals.

(6) Uril, the Miststalker

One of the most popular EDH choices ever. Azusa is popular too, but she was apparently no match for Uril.

vs.

(13) Scion of the Ur-Dragon

In a huge upset, the fun Scion takes down high-powered Azami, Lady of Scrolls! THE CROWD HAS LOST ITS MIND! SCI-ON! SCI-ON! SCI-ON!

(3) Thraximundar

In a very hard-fought match, Thrax edges out the victory against Gisela.

vs.

(5) Momir Vig, Simic Visionary

Momir Vig ekes out a win against fellow Ravnica guild boss Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, but now must face the mighty Thrax.

(10) Karador, Ghost Chieftain

Norin the Wary's play during the match was described as "a little too tentative.

vs.

(15) Edric, Spymaster of Trest

Jhoira of the Ghitu, as always, is too much of a threat to be allowed to stay in the tourney. Edric takes her down with relative ease.

Planeswalker Bracket

(1) Jace, the Mind Sculptor

Jace TMS, aka $100 bill, aka Jace the Jace Jacer, pitches a shutout against Sarkhan the Mad, and looks poised to stomp through the tournament with little resistance. Can anyone stop this monster?

vs.

(9) Tamiyo, the Moon Sage

Tamiyo spoils the Jace v. Jace matchup by taking down Jace, Memory Adept, but now she has an incredibly tough matchup.

(6) Ajani Vengeant

Ajani Lightning Helixes Sorin 1.0 into oblivion and destroys all his land, but must be looking forward with unease to his next match even if he wins here.

vs.

(4) Gideon Jura

Gideon ensures that no Sorins will move on as he sets up this matchup of planeswalkers who use unconventional weapons.

(14) Venser, the Sojourner

No love for the venerable Garruk Wildspeaker, so Venser gets the upset and is poised to make some noise in the tournament.

vs.

(5) Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker

Tezz put up a good fight early and even took a decent lead, but Bolas came back to dominate big; perhaps it was all a ploy.

(10) Liliana of the Veil

Lily beats Karn by a single vote. NEVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU YOUR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT.

vs.

(2) Elspeth, Knight-Errant

The original super-expensive Planeswalker has no problems with newcomer Vraska. Can she take down another relatively recent upstart in Liliana 2.0?

DaShPrime says... #2

Generals

  1. Zur the Enchanter - Not much of a fight
  2. Uril, the Miststalker - So much fun!
  3. Thraximundar - Close fight, but Thrax wins on preference
  4. Karador, Ghost Chieftain - Edric, Spymaster of Trest is nice, but Karador can get around the additional recasting cost of being a general extremely easily.

Planeswalkers

  1. Jace, the Mind Sculptor - Sorry Tamiyo
  2. Ajani Vengeant - I just don't like Gideon Jura , sorry
  3. Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker - Extremely close fight, both of them are disgusting in decks built around them. Being iconic probably won it for Nicol
  4. Elspeth, Knight-Errant - Preference

Well I have never played EDH.... so I can't really vote for generals. But, I can vote for planeswalkers.

  1. Jace, the Mind Sculptor . Tamiyo is awesome, but is no match for Jace.
  2. Gideon Jura
  3. Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker my fav planeswalker
  4. Liliana of the Veil . I don't understand what all the hype is over Elspeth. I mean, her ult is cool, but other than that she is kinda meh.
March 27, 2013 10:20 a.m.

None of the EDH brackets are even close. UG, Zur, and Scion are all extremely powerful, especially if you're talking about sheer combo potential (although Zur just mashes face in the 1v1).

  1. Zur the Enchanter
  2. Scion of the Ur-Dragon
  3. Momir Vig, Simic Visionary
  4. Edric, Spymaster of Trest

Planeswalker brackets? Jace the Jace Jace doesn't auto-win this? Oh wait, yes he does.

  1. Jace, the Mind Sculptor (insert shocker/spoiler reaction here)
  2. Gideon Jura
  3. Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker
  4. Liliana of the Veil
  5. Honestly, Jace, the Mind Sculptor is one of the best Magic cards ever printed. Liliana of the Veil is probably the second best planeswalker ever printed.

March 27, 2013 11:54 a.m.
  1. Zur the Enchanter b/c easier to cast
  2. Uril, the Miststalker b/c you can cast him w/ out any islands
  3. Thraximundar did you see how wordy that other card is?
  4. Edric, Spymaster of Trest you can actually play the card and it helps you make friends at the table.
  5. Tamiyo, the Moon Sage b/c booo jace
  6. Ajani Vengeant b/c boros and land death and lightning helix and tapping... so much good stuff
  7. Venser, the Sojourner b/c i actually want to cast and use my cards not sit around for a month hoping to play them. Plus blinking shinanegins.
  8. Elspeth, Knight-Errant by far the hardest choice on this list.... man... i just .. am not sure.... this is an unfair matchup imo... seems like both of these would be better than either option in 7....

GureiSeion says... #15

  1. Oona, Queen of the Fae - She can play actual games.
  2. Scion of the Ur-Dragon - Well, I always had a soft spot for Rhammidarigaaz.
  3. Momir Vig, Simic Visionary - That "Assassin" isn't very precise.
  4. Karador, Ghost Chieftain - While I enjoy drawing-politics, I like a General who does a little something just for me.
    -------
  5. Tamiyo, the Moon Sage - Fight the power! Also, 'dat emblem.
  6. Gideon Jura - Once again, I favor "complete" combat control.
  7. Venser, the Sojourner - Master Bolas, it looks like The Doctor caught on to a scheme. Might I suggest some choice minions while we hunt for his blue box?
  8. Elspeth, Knight-Errant - With all upside abilities, she tends to leave a longer lasting presence and impression on me.

(1) Zur the Enchanter I guess, but I hate them both.

(2) May Scion of the Ur-Dragon continue their upsets!

(3) Thraximundar is hilarious!

(4) Karador, Ghost Chieftain was my first commander. Whelp, I guess he gets my vote then.

(1) Tamiyo, the Moon Sage is neat.

(2) Ajani Vengeant is pretty cool.

(3) Venser, the Sojourner is a really fun 'walker.

(4) This is not a vote for Liliana of the Veil , this is a vote against Elspeth.

BuLLZ3Y3 says... #21

I think Jace, the Mind Sculptor wins the Planeswalker bracket AND the EDH General bracket.

-BuLLZ3Y3

P.S. Favorite thing to do with Jace? Steal my opponents using Commandeer .

Rhadamanthus says... #22

  1. Zur the Enchanter wins because I don't like infinite mill combos
  2. Scion of the Ur-Dragon wins because HULKAMANIA RUNS WILD
  3. Momir Vig, Simic Visionary wins because I still don't think Thraximundar should be in this bracket at all
  4. Edric, Spymaster of Trest wins because Karador shouldn't be here either

  1. Tamiyo, the Moon Sage wins because she's a much better design
  2. Gideon Jura wins for a similar reason as Scion, above
  3. Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker wins because Venser had no right to beat Garruk
  4. Elspeth, Knight-Errant wins for power reasons
