This is the deck I'm currently completely invested in. What do you think?

zandls-bug-mid-range

Bear with me as I attempt to record games and delve deeper into why I believe this deck is well-placed against many of the current decks in Standard, of which I'm studying rigorously.

This article is a follow-up to Effin' M #2

If the video doesn't load immediately, try again in a few minutes. It's still processing on YouTube.

Before I even watch this, it would be great to have a brief written summary of what is in the video, with a "table of contents" (topic, time in video, link if possible) so I can skip to the sections that interest me.

The advantage of written material over video is that one can quickly skim to see what's coming, and skip around to the bits one wants to read. Summary and table of contents solves this for video.

I think dropping blue and just becoming a rock deck might be better for you. Plus you can add in Disciple of Bolas which has great synergy with most of the deck.

Great, first we have Behgz who is too stupid to implement a video when it's necessary and now we have someone who is too stupid to realize why articles have written parts. I do not give a flying shit that there "may" be a pissing sound outside your window and why you can't get rid of it because if you had any sense, you would realize that videos are supplementary tools and not a means for which to dictate the entire article.

More importantly, however, is that the article itself has no purpose other than as a to abuse a possible moderator position or relationship with the site's admin to promote what is, quite frankly, a lackluster tier 2 deck without intending to play it at some sort of high-level tournament and providing only minimal explanation of how the meta affects certain choices (Except in the case of the sideboard since its whole purpose is to fight the meta). Instead what we're treated to is you effectively stroking your dick (or, rather, deck) and saying things that are pretty much common sense.

Also, if this deck can seriously take second at your FNM, then I would very much like to know where it is you play so that I may show this crowd what an actual meta deck can do.

Now let's cover specific statements that are just wrong:

It's a 6/6 for 4 which is fantastic. That's never been printed

Gatherer would like to prove you wrong with the following cards:

And that's just cards that fit into the context of the statement (or do so closely enough).

Against control [Abrupt Decay] is fantastic

Oh yes, because killing off Snapcaster Mage and Augur of Bolas is TOTALLY what you had in mind when you were thinking of casting Abrupt Decay against control (and if there is any confusion, control rarely -if ever- any of the cards you just mentioned anymore).

Also, it just occurred to me that I was under the impression Devour Flesh would gain me life. Obviously, I know better.

I greatly apologize for you, the TappedOut community, for the behavior of negatively opinionated persons. Clearly, I'm not a perfect filmmaker nor do I ever claim to be. I'm still getting used to this medium and I would certainly appreciate a learning curve, which, I believe, most of you have graciously given me.

I appreciate and respect the right to be such a large part of this community and strive, with each contribution, to better it through stimulating, intellectual, positive, helpful, and (when appropriate) entertaining material. If you truly do not feel that I am qualified to produce these videos or any content for the site, I'm sorry. I will work harder to create more suitable content that is all that I just described.

Words can be taken out of context, but rarely can actions follow suit.

<3,
zandl

Oh please. You think sucking up is going to make you look better?

...Actually, knowing the low intelligence quotient of the collective community, that's a distinct possibility, but I digress.

At the end of the day, a site article is a reflection on the site as a whole. If the article is amateurish and unprofessional, then the site appears amateurish and unprofessional. I may have been a bit harsh pinning all of this on you as evidently KrazyCaley is the site editor and it is ultimately his responsibility to fix crap like this (a responsibility he very clearly doesn't take seriously), but that doesn't mean you're entirely blameless.

It takes time to get good at anything, most sane people know this.

Good job zandl.

What's this in reference to? I hope it isn't my comment, which was meant to be friendly and constructive.

zandl says... #13

No, not at all. It's comments like yours that make me want to improve. I appreciate that you had a constructive basis to your comment. Someone came on here earlier and was badmouthing me, my contributions, and TappedOut as a whole just for the sake of trolling.

July 29, 2013 11:54 p.m.

Narwek says... #14

I've found a few people doing that as well recently. Know of anything we can do about it?

July 29, 2013 11:58 p.m.

zandl says... #15

If there's ever a person on TappedOut being a troll, badmouthing another user or a deck, or basically not following the Golden Rule, let Epochalyptik know about it. AFAIK, he's the head-cheese when it comes to moderating and making sure the pool stays clean.

Magic is full of opinionated players, but people can occasionally take it too far and begin turning their seemingly constructive criticism into spiteful drama and (in most cases) base name-calling. That simply won't be tolerated on a site that is designed to be a community.

Indeed; yeaGO! ultimately handles all of the BS which inevitably occurs when trolls roam the countryside. That, and he's a boss.

Well, the boss.

If this wasn't knowledge you possessed when you wrote the article to begin with, then you were never fit to write a site article.

Fantastic Video. I really enjoyed watching it. The idea behind this deck and the way it is put togetger is so original. Great job, keep it up!

Tribute to Hunger cost 1 mana more over Devour Flesh but gains you life instead of your oppnent.(though most know reason to me of useing devour over tribute is that it was cheapera)

and its true 1 Curse of Death's Hold doesnt criple your opontent. 2 do.

July 30, 2013 1:25 p.m.

zandl says... #24

I'm using Devour Flesh over Tribute to Hunger simply because it's cheaper. At 2 mana, all I really have to cast against Aggro is Abrupt Decay (and Far , if it comes to down to it). But at 3, I have Away and Putrefy . I didn't want to set myself up for scenarios in which I have a bunch of 3-drops and nothing to do on turn-2.
