Another one for you homebrewers...
I'm about halfway through the matches in my first Ultimate Guild Challenge, where you guys create decks for a guild, to ultimately decide which Guild is the strongest!
In this series of challenges, we match up each of the Guilds of Ravnica and battle them to the death!
So whether you're a dedicated Golgari Agricultural Necromancer or prefer the brutal power of Gruul, dust off your Guildgates and get brewing on this Ultimate Guild Challenge!
Each article will cover a Guild, which you, the guild supporters, will create a deck for. These decks will be matched up against each other, until a sole victor will remain, who will be named Guild Representative.
The Guild Representative will move on to the Battle of Guilds, where each Guild will, randomly assigned, battle another Guild in a BO3 Elimination.The five Guilds who manage through the first power struggle, will then play each of the other remaining Guilds. The Guild with the most victories, will be Crowned as the strongest!

Otherwise, keep reading and get ready to brew, as you will have a cool 9 (nine, neuf, what comes after 8) days to submit your decks! (Whilst I'm off on vacazione).
The Second Guild: Boros
The Boros Legion functions as the righteous and zealous constabulary and standing army of Ravnica, and fervently and firmly believes in hamonious co-existence on Ravnica, even if lives are lost, and blood is shed achieving this.
The Legion has a complicated contrived hierachy, with the higher levels comprising angels and guildmages, whilst the lower levels are the League of Wojek and the Boros army.
Deck-Building Rules:
1) A member can post one deck for each Guild. Only one submission per Member will be taken. If you decide to alter your deck, please note so in a comment or just change your decks.
2) Each deck must be two-coloured following guild colours; no splashing allowed! Split cards may be played, if the half or halves that are being played is only either or both of the guild's colour. So a Golgari deck can play Away of Far / Away , an Izzet deck can play Far, and a Dimir deck can play both, fusing included.
3) A deck must be exactly 60 cards; no more, no less. Sideboards will not be used.
4) A deck may only contain cards from Ravnica: City of Guilds, Guildpact, Dissension, Return to Ravnica, Gatecrash or Dragon's Maze.
5) A deck may cost no more than 100 dollars, judged by TCGplayer's average prices.
I will assemble each deck on Cockatrice, set up brackets and duel the decks. I will play the matches making all rational decisions that a skilled player would make. Unfortunately due to practical reasons, we can't each play our own deck. Timezones, timing and timely manner are the keywords here.
It is probably wise to keep in mind that your deck may play any match-up, and keeping it fit to fight a broader spectrum of deck types, will probably benefit you in the long run.

The first link deck is legal, but the second deck has a few illegal cards for the challenge (Rakdos Cackler, Searing Spear, and Pillar of Flame).

Righteous Rushin' I have this wicked feeling that I should add some Wear / Tear ... But I'll just let it be :P I'm already too undecided regarding which cards should stay and which shouldn't.

What about hybrid cards that have one color not in Boros?
For example, if Unmake were in these sets would it be legal?

@psychoza Worry not. It's just a general precaution :P I've been trying to get into my head that it's better to be safe than sorry. Much like when I have a Duress and a Vampire Nighthawk in hand and play the Nighthawk first, only to have it get hit by the only Searing Spear the opponent's holding. Yeah. Gotta learn to go safer.

Hiya peoples of tappedout! i just want to say good luck to all participants though i still hope that i win the entire tourney! anyways... my deck is challenge deck for those people who didn't know and JUST IN CASE, it is for the challenge (i just wanted to make sure that THAT was clear :)!.

That's...a good question.
I'd imagine so if the card itself is mono white, but Dallie will have to make the final call on that one.

I think you'd be able to if it was a card like Syndic of Tithes , since it's a white card. You can't use cards like like Gift of Orzhova though.

@APPLE01DOJ: We only care about colour, not colour identity, so Supersun is right. So long as the card has no mana cost that isn't red or white, then you're good to go.

Dallie? Can you place a ban on Psychic Spiral for the dimir challenge? I just think that when it comes around, that heaps of people will be playing it just to get past the same guild rounds, but it will make the games a war of who gets more of them. It will against lots of decks mean essentially: 'your life total becomes 20. Your opponent loses life equal to the life you just gained'. I just think it will take away from the spirit of the challenge. I can't see any other cards affecting the other challenges, the main one would be Vulturous Zombie , but at least they can kill that or stop dredging for a while. And it didn't cause many problems, but I think spiral will make the challenge bad.

@KingSorin I hardly think banning that card is necessary at all. First of all, you assume everyone will make a mill deck, which is definitely not the finest dimir has to offer; and secondly, the colors offer a wide array of counter spells, so if you're afraid of a Psychic Spiral , just put in all the Dispel 's you desire.

The matches for the Golgari rounds have still been in progress. The only way to speed the process up is to have a second (and maybe even a third) unbiased player to play out the matches.

Aww man, I only saw this post yesterday. Got excited and started to brainstorm deck ideas.
Today.. of course... I saw the 7 July time frame for deck submissions.

@mana191; Yeah it's always a bummer whe you notice a cool challenge too late. Keep your eyes open, though, and I'm sure you'll see the rest of the guild challenges popping up here the same way.
