Simic Charm seems quite fitting :D

Simic Charm , I just love charms. Agoraphobia is ok, but not something we should sweat about. The rest just have a too high cmc, they're alright, but not really worth it, if Primal Visitation had cost 1 less, I probably would have given it my vote. but at a cmc of 5, it's just too pricey for its effects.

I did not expect this easy picking Simic Charm . Guess going Simic has paid off, and probably only because of some intense cutting off by the other drafters.

We should probably just take it and keep the pack rolling. Simic Charm

Simic Charm , move along.

As a side note, to all the boros supporters out there...

We have one Boros card, and it is mono white. We tried long and hard to make it work, and we got a Mugging and Massive Raid out of it.

We decide to go Simic and we get three very solid picks handed to us on a silver platter, besudes the original Gyre Sage . I just hope we get more to compensate for our collective mistake.

Siggy23 says... #8

Im voting Agoraphobia . . . its as good as a reusable removal spell . . .

Simic Charm is next; those two are head and shoulders above the rest.

Kazekiri says... #9

Simic Charm , easy pick with what we already have.

February 20, 2013 1:27 a.m.

why we didn't pick the sky kinght i will never know... but everyone seems to have tossed out our solid red cards in favor of green blue. Might as well embrace the heresy at this point. Simic Charm

Towering Thunderfist would have been a solid pick and so would Act of Treason you know since act just wins people games... le sigh...

DeckBuilder345

In my opinion our consensus moved because of what the table was telling us to do. Sure the skyknight is a nice card, but if we can't build a proper deck then it becomes worthless

With 3-4 packs in a row with very solid Simic picks, it's a pretty clear signal for us to take them. A random skyknight will probably hurt us in the long run.

Simic Charm . No more needs to be said.

Captain_Man says... #13

Simic Charm . The table hath left it ripe for the picking!

February 20, 2013 2:27 a.m.

Since everyone went crazy and thinks Simic will win us games, I suppose Simic Charm . I'm sorry, but I just don't think evolve is very viable for limited formats. Takes too long to get going. But we'll see how Caley does with it... At least the charm gives hexproof...

Looking at the cards that did get picked out of this pack reveals a lot as to how we would have faired in pack 2 with boros. I think we've made the right move.

Agoraphobia over the Charm by a nose.

February 20, 2013 3:21 a.m.

vic says... #16

I want to add that I'm glad this cunundrum happened. It's better practice this way than having more obvious choices. We got off to a mixed up start, and had to figure our way out of it. This is a good thing for the practice.

Be warned - no updates until very late Thursday night, as I am entering a period of extreme busy-ness until that time. Looks like Simic Charm , but I'll let it simmer for a few days just to be sure.

Simic Charm , On top of being the best card in the pack will help defend against the obvious Gruul and Boros that have been taken from this pack

February 20, 2013 8:18 a.m.

TheBearShaker says... #24

the fact that Simic Charm wheeled around means that simic is wide open and ripe for the picking for the next two packs. also the fact the Midnight Recovery was taken over the Act of Treason makes me think we have a orzhov player (or just a bad drafter) at our table (blue has been much to open for me to think they are going dimir). It's looking more and more like we made the right choice switching to simic, albeit a pick or two late.

Simic Charm is the pick

February 20, 2013 8:27 a.m.

TheGnat says... #25

Simic Charm no doubt. Possible ability to do a Simic/Boros deck if the cards fall right in the next pack to be opened.

February 20, 2013 9:17 a.m.

Goody says... #26

4 colors is tough in Limited... If we got a couple more Prophetic Prism , I'd consider splashing the red for removal and maybe a good Boros card or two

February 20, 2013 9:37 a.m.

TheBearShaker says... #27

no one is looking to go four colors at the moment, we can go BANT (simic with mono white cards, currently where we seem to be heading) or we can go with the RUG wedge (simic splashing red for some gruul, very possible if we keep seeing removal)

February 20, 2013 10:23 a.m.

jkarnes says... #28

Simic Charm like a boss.

I'm surprised it wheel'd. +3/+3 or Bounce OR HEXPROOF (for EVERYTHING) is nuts. Three very powerful limited effects and no one took them.

Awkward.

February 20, 2013 10:27 a.m.

cartwheelnurd says... #29

Simic Charm 's amazing in this format and we have some good simic cards. Given that we don;t have to abandon white just yet,m I'd say to firmly pick the simic charm. Boros has stiff competition, given the cards picked, but it doesn;t seem like simic is highly contested.

February 20, 2013 10:38 a.m.

Goody says... #30

KrazyCaley, could we possibly get the next pack going before you become extremely busy? There are only two dissenting votes for Agoraphobia ...

February 20, 2013 10:41 a.m.

TheBearShaker says... #31

I just took a peak at the next pack, and man o man are there a bunch of options for us: if either Rapid Hybridization or AEtherize roll back around we will be in VERY good shape. there is also Forced Adaptation , Scab-Clan Charger , Spire Tracer and three colorless options as well. not to mention the splash-able Scorchwalker (really good for evolve with 5 power)

we are pretty much bound to get something that not only works in our deck, but is good for us.

February 20, 2013 11:28 a.m.

lonewolfx says... #32

Simic Charm is definitely good, but Agoraphobia would be a fine pick too.

(Unnecessary) vote for Simic Charm .

ratchet1215 says... #33

Wow, Simic Charm should REALLY not still be here. It seems our choice has been made for us.

February 20, 2013 12:31 p.m.

exarkun809 says... #34

Well I guess if we're going to go Simic we may as well go all out.... and then lose to mediocre Boros decks. Act of Treason would have been nice. Gah, you guys are as krazy as Caley.

Simic Charm

Zacoly says... #35

I'm going to vote: Act of Treason I like to keep my mana to 3 colors or so if I can help it. You don't have blue yet, I'd say try not to get it at this point.

  • Simic Charm is pretty mana exclusive on top of being your only blue spell so far.
February 20, 2013 12:49 p.m.

apt142 says... #36

user:2zacoly: We have Drakewing Krasis and Shambleshark in our pool already. Simic Charm fits in with those.

Simic Charm . No question.

February 20, 2013 1:18 p.m.

dorminjake says... #40

I'm actually pretty excited about the Bant splash possibilities here. It seems like Frontline Medic 's indestructible battalion would work pretty well with an otherwise solidly Simic deck. Not to mention that fact that a 3/3 body is pretty decent for triggering Evolve.

February 20, 2013 3:01 p.m.

sheamagic says... #41

Simic Charm hands down. The card is very versitile, and each mode is profitable.

February 20, 2013 8:42 p.m.

TikiShades says... #42

The obvious pick here is Primal Visitation . 5 mana for a giant growth plus haste? Sold.

@TikiShades I hope you are being sarcastic.

February 20, 2013 10:34 p.m.

Simic Charm , just in case it isn't clear already.

Simic thingamabob

The least KC could do was leave us on a pick that required some debate and discussion. I, for one, intend to write a sternly-worded letter to my local DCI rep. If that doesn't work, I'll sharpen up my trusty Razor Boomerang and visit yeaGO!.

February 20, 2013 11:11 p.m.

SwiftDeath says... #46

picking anything other then Simic Charm with what we pulled already would be a crime.

February 21, 2013 12:25 a.m.

Simic Charm seems like the clear favorite.

I'll have it be known that a well-timed Agoraphobia can ruin someone's day. It's an amazing "removal" card in the format.

The pick is still the Charm, though.

February 21, 2013 12:39 a.m.

vic says... #48

TheBearShaker- Agreed. And that probably won't be the only pack that wheels that way for us either.

February 21, 2013 1:02 a.m.

MagnorCriol says... #49

Why is Simic Charm even still here? Damn. Take that up right away. Agoraphobia is good as well but not as much as the charm.

Editorial: I haven't been reading these till now, but I cannot believe we took a mediocre guy like Gyre Sage over that awesome Guildmage. That's unfortunate.

February 21, 2013 1:04 a.m.

http404error, you're right, and I meant to mention that in my post as well. I don't like Gyre Sage but the simic route seems to have paid off so far. Based on what else is missing from this pack (and the others) Boros is probably going to be fought over pretty hard here so this will probably turn out better for us in the end. Still a poor pick for p1p1, though. =p
