Overall the night went really well with a final score of 5-1-1.
Round 1
Opponent: G/U Hydras
Game 1: He curved out very well. Turn 1 Elvish Mystic, turn 2 Sylvan Caryatid, followed by a turn 3 Prophet of Kruphix. Many large Hydras then flooded the board.
Game 2: Game went just as planned. Got in some damage early with a Fencing Ace and Fleecemane Lion. Cleaned up with a Ghor-Clan Rampager on the Ace.
Game 3: Don't remember the exact plays, but very similar to game 2.
Overall: 2-1 Win.
Round 2
Opponent: R/G Aggro
Game 1: Took some damage but laid em out with a good combination of combat tricks on my double strikers.
Game 2: 3 Brave the Elements kept my Selesnya Charm token and Fleecemane Lion which just did work.
Overall: 2-0 Win.
Round 3
Opponent: R/G Monsters
Game 1: Kept a hand with a 2 drop creature and a Mizzium Mortars. I followed with a Preeminent Captain, which flooded my guys in as I was able to use the Mizzium Mortars to remove his Stormbreath Dragon.
Game 2: We both laid down guys, notably his Generator Servant. He sped out a Polis Crusher with it but I answered with another Mizzium Mortars.
Overall: 2-0 Win.
Round 4
Opponent: G/W Aggro
Game 1: Mulliganed down to 5 cards. He curved out well and I scooped on turn 3.
Game 2: He led with a Sunblade Elf. I put a turn 2 Selesnya Charm token in the way and dropped a Fabled Hero on turn 3. Turn 4 he blocked the knight token and I used 2 Ghor-Clan Rampagers on my hero. 20 clean.
Game 3: I had a strong creature on turn 2 and turn 3. Turn 4 I buffed with a Boros Charm and Ghor-Clan Rampager for the win.
Overall: 2-1 Win.
Round 5
Opponent: Jeskai Aggro
Intentional draw into Top 8.
Top 8 Round 1
Opponent: R/B Aggro
Game 1: Turn 3 Master of the Feast went unanswered.
Game 2: Curved out Fencing Ace into Loxodon Smiter and finished turn 4 with 2 combat tricks.
Game 3: Swarmed hard on 2 drops. My creatures were bigger than his.
Overall: 2-1 Win.
Top 8 Quarterfinals
Opponent: Jeskai Aggro
Game 1: He had amazing answers with one Chained to the Rocks and 2 Boros Charms.
Game 2: Got amazing 2 Fiendslayer Paladin, but all of my lands came in tapped, causing the paladin to come in slow with an Imposing Sovereign already in play.
Overall: 0-2 Loss.
Overall
Ended either 3rd or 4th on points, but I don't quite remember which (I think 3rd). Better than I really expected without knowing anything about the meta.

Decided I wasn't too keen on the Maralen of the Mornsong + Ob Nixilis, Unshackled combo so i took them out of the main deck... also took out Champion of Stray Souls added Bloodline Keeper Flip, Thran Dynamo, and Dark Impostor... not sure if this is better or worse though...QcAntz, 9 years ago

Revised Deck

I added Covenant of Blood to the sideboard while taking out Pharika's Cure. Even though it has a high mana cost, the Convoke feature can help with the amount of creatures on the board. Hopefully this helps solves my life gaining issue while dealing damage. As always, comments/advice is helpful.Finished

After reading your comments and play testing the deck I have eliminated 7 five drops and replace them with 4 1 drops and 3 four drops hopefully this will increase consistency and power in the deck ( the mana pool may need adjustment with the addition of the new double reds)Sideboard Updates

Alrighty guys! For those of you who are interested, I have an update about the TCG tournament.
Anyway, I went 5-2 at my very first big Modern Tournament! Isnt that great? I don't really want to make this super long, so im going to go one by one with each opponent and post my record:
Round 1: Tarmo-Twin, 1-2
Round 2: Affinity, 2-0
Round 3: UWR Control, 2-0
Round 4: Infect Mirror: 0-2
Round 5: UWR Control: 2-1
Round 6: UWR Control, 2-0
Round 7, Tarmo-Twin, 2-0
That's what happened. I see that my bad match-ups are the Infect mirror and Twin. I also went with a team from my LGS, here's how they did:
Teammate 1: Elf Stompy, 3-4
Teammate 2: Melira Pod, 3-4
Teammate 3: Tarmo-Twin (My round 7 opponent), 3-4
Teammate 4: B/G Rock, 5-2
And incase you were wondering I wont leave you hanging... Neither me or teammate 4 made Top 8. Only one 5-2 made it in.
Meta: Incase you were wondering about the Meta at the Tournament, I saw a lot of UWR Control. A lot of it! Second most was probably Twin, and 3rd was probably the multiple Rock Variants. I saw probably 3 Pod decks that whole day. But I did see a lot more Burn then I expected. At least 6 different Burn decks. I don't know all of top 8, but here is what I do know about Top 8. There was 2 Rock decks, a twin deck, a zoo deck, and a living end deck.
Well, that's the day. m very happy with the deck's performance seeing it being my first Modern Tournament.
Special thanks to thispersonisagenius for being a HUGE help to me and getting this deck tournament ready! And thanks to everyone who took the time to comment on the deck, its greatly appreciated!
And P.S. I wanted to tell you guys all the great card buying I did from the vendors!
1) Remand (Ravnica version), $10
2) Stoneforge Mystic, $20
3) Promo Batterskull, $18
4) 2 Splinter Twin, $18 a piece
5) Yawgmoth's Will, $18
6) Sylvan Library, $16
It was an expensive weekend, that's for sure...
quick update
Tozman, 9 years ago
i brought it back down to 60 cards.
also made a few changes to the more expensive cards and made a sideboard. sided 2x Door of Destinies as i found they weren't being played/used much, i'll fully replace them with something else eventually but for now its all i have.
feels a lot better to play now. slightly faster as well.
swapped 2 of the Lord of Shatterskull Pass out for Oracle of Bones because i'v found the Tribute effect from Oracle of Bones can be really handy. it either comes out as a 5/3 with Haste, or it lets you cast a Flurry of Horns or a Lightning Strike/Bolt.
Lord of Shatterskull Pass is a great card but i don't think this deck is slow enough to make use of his ability very often. For now i'm going to concentrate on adding a little bit more cheap burn.

-1 khaki gem -1 panic spellbomb -1 deep analysis -1 sun droplet -1 island -1 sliver hive (never actually had one, moving to maybes till I pick one up.) +1 sliver hivelord +1 phyrexian arena +1 leeching sliver +1 Shivian coast +1 constricting sliver +1 belligerent sliver Getting there! Cards I put in after trades, seeing need for artifacts, and new card from draft:Blood Crypt - better than Swamp
Stomping Ground - better than mountain
Overgrown Tomb - better than forest
Thopter Assembly - needed more artifacts to sac so replaced Jade Mage
Yisan, the Wanderer Bard - good search effect for this deck, replaced Endless Cockroaches
Tooth and Nail - a great seach and play card, replacing Butcher of Malakir
Mask of Avacyn - - needed more protection from spot removal, replaced Nylea, God of the Hunt

Screwed with the sideboard a lot. Mainly, I changed numbers around, but also added a Godsend. I ordered the deck and am taking it to an FNM some time soon.DarkRequiem, 9 years ago

Removing 1 Where Ancients Tread, 1 Nessian Wilds Ravager and 1 Primordial Hydra.
