it's been kicking ass so far! Still need to work on the sideboard but I'm happy with it! I was not expecting much from liliana but it helps a lot! she can help killing a sylvan advocate with grasp! Also bring back your kalitas or thought-knot! I'm impressed with her :D

Sigarda 2.0!!

Voltron1980, 7 years ago

I have now updated Sigarda, due mostly in part to Sigarda's Aid!! What a powerhouse card! I have now stripped down the number of aura enchants and win-more creatures to make room for all the bad ass equipment we can use now. I also restructured the mana ramp to include Exploration, Land Tax and Burgeoning and Mana Reflections for late game draw, when combo'd with Tower of Fortune. This helps to make the deck a little more balanced since it is no longer solely based on enchants. Even if you are unable to tutor up Sigarda's Aid for some reason, this build will provide you with so much mana, that you can afford the equip costs no problem. The only thing left I need is the Sword of Light and Shadow!

-- Removed Nevinyrral's Disk. Added Curse of the Cabal. Disk was great earlier in the deck's life, but between Ugin and Perilous Vault it is not needed as much to clear the whole board of things I can't deal with using black mana. As well as with Karn and Scour from Existence (as well as politics) for targeted removal , disk's slowness really feels to drag and the card often just sits in my hand if it ever leaves the deck. So playing with a new removal option, as not only does it say "John Avon" it can also break an opponent when timed right even without me able to directly chose what they are losing. -- Removed Buried Alive. Added Bitter Ordeal. I am not too happy with having removed Buried Alive, but I really wanted to get Bitter Ordeal in the deck and there were few slots it could take. I want to try and get it back in at some point, as even only throwing Filth in the grave can be really strong if I have no plans for reanimation. But I really wanted to get the only Gravestorm card into my deck. Only three mana to remove one or more win conditions from my opponents' decks? Yes please.

Added declaration in stone to main deck

monkeyprophet, 7 years ago

After getting a chance to play quite a few matches with the deck now, i've found myself almost always siding in declaration in stone, so much that i've added it to the main deck. I feel it increases my chances of winning by prolonging the game so i can cast my bigger spells. To make room i've taken out one each of duskwatch recruiter, lambholt pacifist and oath of nissa. I've had a few matches today with the new main deck and i've performed well, winning 4 2-0 and losing once 2-1. i won against bant spirits, a u/w enchanment deck, r/g wolves and an interesting emerge/reanimate deck that had some cool combo's but not much interaction with flyers. A notable occurence during the latter match was emerging it of the horrid swarm, then saccing it to emerge another one, using macabre waltz to get the first back in hand and saccing the second one to the first. i was lucky to have a declaration in stone in hand to wipe away the insect tokens as the next turn a decimator of the provinces came down that would have killed me if the insects were on board. i lost to a delirium deck that managed to cast emrakul in all 3 games! Declaration in stone is what saved me in the second game as i drew it on my extra turn after emrakul resolved. I'm not too worried about the delirium matchup in general however as i was ahead on board/life and card advantage every game until emrakul came down, i feel the chance of an emrakul cast is low enough in most games to avoid the need for any changes. With Declaration moving out of the sideboard, i have 3 slots open so i've added Bruna, Dragonlord Dromoka and seasons past as they were all cards that just missed out on a sideboard place before and each one makes certain matchups more favourable.

Little improvement with new big monster

Wiktul, 7 years ago

I decided to switch one Sidisi's Faithful to new Elder Deep-Fiend. With Grozoth in play it can easily be casted for 2, what can make a great difference for me with it's flash and semi-timewalk ability.

Change is Coming

Lil_Kalki, 7 years ago

Out goes Kozilek's Pathfinder, in comes Metalworker Out goes Bane of Bala Ged, in comes... Vedalken Orrery?

Yes, while I do not yet have my claws on a Crucible of Worlds, the Orrery will be the chosen edit in its place. I may even be able to make a better edit than Bane to put Crucible in for, so I'm not really worried yet. For considerably reasonable idioms, I don't really want to go under 44 lands (even considering all of the rocks and dorks I run!), so lands are likely out of the question right now as something to remove for Crucible (although that in mind I don't mind removing, say, 2 Wastes for Crucible and Wasteland if that were ever doable for me). At the moment my likely nix will be... Oh man this is difficult. I'll probably just nix a Wastes and try to make all of my Wastes the Ulamog-themed ones :P

Lil' Tweak

Removed Infectious Rage for Zur's Weirding, and swapped a Mountain for Magosi, the Waterveil.

Infectious is cool, but it only does work again token decks. If sideboards were a thing in EDH, I'd keep it there.

Updated with Eldritch Moon Eldrazi

TigerAce77, 7 years ago

Added in a few new Eldrazi to include in the pure colorless standard build. I also adjusted the mana base to reflect a post-Origins rotation. Going to lose some nice colorless utility lands.

Just some card changes. Some enchantments are removed because the focus is going to be more onto equipments.

In: Indomitable Archangel, Relic Seekerfoil, Gisela, the Broken Blade  Meld, Rhox Faithmender, Sigarda's Aid, Doubling Cube, Grapling Hook

Out: Archangel, Elgaud Inquisitor, Seraph of Dawn, Ethereal Armor, Grasp of the Hieromancer, Marked by Honor, Fireshrieker

Quick update

malfeischylde, 7 years ago

So, the meta has been changing to less blue/black instant mystical teaching and faerie control, and more aggro. I swapped in more tageted removal as a result. I also sbed a couple of Scent of Nightshade for opposing fish mirrors, and sultai scavengers and other x/3 and larger black creatures that cannot be removed with Pharika's Cure, Disfigure, or non-black creature stipulated removal such as Snuff Out or Doom Blade.

There are still a couple of control decks in the meta. One is mono blue, and the other is mill control with Jace's Erasure. Hense, Font of Return in the side board. I got asked a couple of times, so that's why. And it's a value card, anyway.

I may swap out the Okiba-Gang Shinobi, soon as it is no longer a surprise to people in my lgs, but putting in the second Pestilence instead of one Crypt Rats has been testing well.

Minor Change to the Manabase

S_Jake, 7 years ago

I realised that with the recent changes to the deck, the mana is now a little more awkward than it was. This is basically because I changed the cantrips and card drawing spells: 3 Telling Time and 3 Read the Bones have become 4 Take Inventory and 2 Read the Bones.

While I think I'm happy with the changes in general, it can now be harder to dig into the deck to find a second coloured source, which in particular can make casting multiple blue spells around turns 4 and 5 more difficult. This also comes up more often because the addition of a blue two-mana spell!

Running the numbers again, I decided that I should be playing the 4th Evolving Wilds over a Swamp. I also wanted another extra blue source, so I've decided to try a Submerged Boneyard over another Swamp.

My concern is that while this should make the mana more reliable, adding two taplands will also make it slower. I'm particularly concerned about draws involving Submerged Boneyard making it harder for my buddy/tango lands to come into play untapped. There is a trade-off between speed and reliability as far as the mana in Duels is concerned and the optimal balance might be for somebody more intelligent than I to figure out!

Cytokenisis, 7 years ago

Adding ojutai's command because it occured to me that grayard recursion just means u get another spirit in yuor hand.

also, I took out the Think Twices because anytime i had them, I simply wanted another spirit. More spirits, less draw. Im keeping the ancetral visions simply for the raw card advantage it gives when it pays off.

finally, some anafenzas, illusuionary images and such for testing.

FNM/SNM- Fixed Up

carvscards, 7 years ago

Just a quick little update to say how my deck has performed at Fixed Up. (This will not include too much detail as these games were played 2-3 weeks ago). So, went 5-0, 3-2, 2-1, and 3-0. I will try to write more and keep this more up to date, but overall I am happy with how the deck has performed.
