Introduction

Welcome to the heavily play tested and my favorite form, of my Yawg Daddy deck. Forget about having friends. Forget about sitting around for a friendly game of Magic The Gathering. No! You will be hated out. You will be resilient though. You ultimately will sit at the table with less friends, than you started with.

What makes my Yawgmoth different than the other ones on tapped out? They focus on his card draw potential and he is a major part of their ability to win. This deck sees Yawgmoth as the coup de gras. He isn't necessary, but he is great to have on board when we are going off, which is why he is in the command zone.

This deck is not at maximum misery potential, but it is at enough to survive in almost any meta. I've played this deck at quite a few game shops in several states now. I will say this. It doesn't do cute things. It does horrible dreadful things. Which is why I love it so much. I hope you enjoy playing it as much I do.

Why Play Yawgmoth Show

You may ask why you should play Yawgmoth over another mono B commander.

To me it's quite simple. Flavor. Too expand upon that, there is no villain in MTG history that is so iconic as the god of Phyrexia. He is a legend. Even Urza bowed before him.

1.) Do you like sacrificing creatures for profit?
2.) Do you enjoy drawing cards?
3.) Do you want the table to be afraid to play creatures?
4.) Do you enjoy ulting a planeswalker the moment it hit's the battlefield?

If the above is the case, then you will enjoy Yawgmoth.

Opening Hand Show

You are going to want the following in your opening hand. Two lands that will tap for black mana, a zero drop mana rock, and a tutor. If you get Entomb or Buried Alive you will want a way to reanimate. I typically will mulligan down to 5 and hope. If you get Contamination you will need Dreadhorde Invasion or Bitterblossom or a tutor. I've often gone for hard locks with a contamination opening on turn 2.

The godhand is thus. Swamp, Mana Crypt, Lion's Eye Diamond, Vilis, Broker of Blood, Reanimate, and Yawgmoth's Will. Almost anything you draw at that point is going to be gas. I've only had the hand once and it was an amazing feeling to dump my hand and draw 8 all on turn 1. After you drop the swamp and mana crypt you cast Yawgmoth's will hold priority and then crack LED. Dump your hand into your gy then resolve Will. Cast LED from the GY and crack it again if you need. Reanimate into Vilis and draw 8 more cards, dumping what you can. I dumped a Dreadhorde Invasion and Bitterblossom that game, in my opening hand, so I cracked LED twice and brought them back.

Lockout Combos

No Hand 4 U

Ult Liliana, Defiant Necromancer then cast and sac Mindslicer. You keep sacing Mindslicer after the draw phase of each opponent. Yawgmoth, Thran Physician and Vilis, Broker of Blood can break parity by drawing us cards.

No Mana 4 U

Contamination and Bitterblossom. Bitterblossom will give you a creature to sac to Contamination every upkeep. This will not fully lock out most opponents, but it will seriously hamper their game plans. I've literally had tables scoop when the consensus was that nobody could do anything about it.

No Draw 4 U

Cast Opposition Agent on opponents turn. Then cast Maralen of the Mornsong on your turn. Cast and then sac Mindslicer. Your opponents now can not draw cards at the beginning of their draw step.

WinCon

The wincons are simple. Take the aristocrats win, through undying and pinging from sacrifice or infect your way out. As a backup you can win via achieving Gravestorm and using Bitter Ordeal or use Chain of Smog for Magecraft.

Aristocrat Combos Show

An aristocrats win is done through creatures repeatedly dying. We use our cards like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat to damage our opponents, from all the creatures being sacrificed. It's often the best way to win. We will be looping undying triggers from Butcher Ghoul and Geralf's Messenger.


There are a few other combo lines to win off an Aristocrats strategy that does not involve our boy Yawgmoth. The following is the combos.

Phyrexian Altar + Gravecrawler + Zulaport Cutthroat or Blood Artist + a zombie Phyrexian Delver or Geralf's Messenger or Butcher Ghoul or Gray Merchant of Asphodel or Carrion Feeder or Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. Sac Gravecrawler to the Altar, for B mana, and with another zombie in play use that floating B to cast him from your graveyard. You will have infinite death triggers from one of the pain aristocrats.

Infect Show

For the infect win, you will Ichor Rats to give people a poison counter. From there you will use Yawgmoth, Thran Physician ability to proliferate.

Gravestorm Show

Cast Entomb putting Razaketh, the Foulblooded to the yard. Reanimate Razaketh and sac a creature searching for Gravecrawler. Tap B and cast Gravecrawler. Sac Gravecrawler and lose 2 life to Razaketh to tutor Carrion Feeder. Tap B and cast Carrion Feeder and the tap B to cast Gravecrawler from the gy. Sac Gravecrawler and lose 2 life to Razaketh to tutor Phyrexian Altar. Spend 3 to cast Altar. Sac Gravecrawler to Altar to generate B mana and then recast repeating an absurdly large time. Sac Gravecrawler and spend 2 life to tutor Bitter Ordeal. Win the game.
Total mana needed is 5BBBBBB. This is best done with a ritual, Dark Ritual or Cabal Ritual

Magecraft Show

Cast Professor Onyx then cast Chain of Smog targeting yourself. You can then copy the spell targeting yourself each time. Even with zero cards in hand, because of the way the card is worded, you can continue to copy the spell. Do this till the table is dead.

WARNING

This deck tech is quite spicy. We are not talking jalapeno spicy. We are talking ghost pepper spicy. Do not play this deck at a casual table or with people who are new to commander. This is for the tables that are trying to have fun, but win above that. It is not a competitive deck nor is it a competitive commander. It is an extremely strong deck for a table of highly tuned and optimized decks.

Some may ask why Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre is CMC 0. It's because the card is to prevent mill and reshuffle the graveyard on discard.

As a note to the viewer, this is the base of my deck. I am constantly testing out cards and swaps, before I make an official update to the deck, as a semi-permanent addition. Once, I am satisfied that a card is not preforming and I have found a good replacement, I will make an update to the list.
