"The Gitrog Monster" (Lands Matter/Infinite Bears)

Commander / EDH BG (Golgari) Combo Dredge Lands Loam Scapeshift

DanielR544

A casual The Gitrog Monster deck with some of the typical lands-matter win-cons such as Avenger of Zendikar and Rampaging Baloths and ways to generate a lot of landfall triggers such as Splendid Reclamation and Scapeshift.

While more traditional land-shenanigans are the primary win conditions the deck also runs a combo which makes infinite 2/2 bears: Ayula's Influence + Dakmor Salvage and one generic + one black mana.

The line is to discard Dakmor Salvage to Ayula's Influence to create a bear and put a Gitrog draw trigger on the stack from Dakmor hitting the graveyard. Replace the draw trigger with the dredge from Dakmor Salvage to return it to hand and milling two cards. If you mill a land this creates an additional draw trigger. You're now back to square one but with a 2/2 bear, two cards milled and potentially a draw trigger on the stack if you milled a land.

Continue this loop until you mill Kozilek, Butcher of Truth who will shuffle your graveyard back into your library. At this point you will have accumulated a large number of draw triggers and a lot of bears. Continue this loop of milling your deck until you've accrued basically infinite draw triggers and infinite bears - most playgroups should let you shortcut it if they don't have interaction.

Once you pick an arbitrarily large number of bears, let the draw triggers resolve until you've drawn your deck and then flash in Oblivion Crown. This will let you discard Kozilek, Butcher of Truth in response to the remaining draw triggers to avoid drawing a card from an empty deck. If Oblivion Crown is countered you can use Noxious Revival to draw it once more and attempt to flash it in again if you have the mana.

At this point you have infinite bears and you will have drawn your deck. If you have one green mana open you can then play Concordant Crossroads to swing immediately.

This is far from the most efficient combo available to Gitrog but your playgroup might just be more lenient towards the combo if they were beaten by an infinite army of bears.
