Intro

So this is what I call my "sister deck" to my Zurgo, the F-Smasher deck. Similar to what this deck Some Light Theft (Thada Adel, Acquisitor) was going for with a voltron-centric build on Thada. The main idea behind using Thada Adel, Acquisitor was to keep infinite combo decks at bay with commanders like Urza, Lord High Artificer or Emry, Lurker of the Loch which were going unchecked in our meta. Thada presents a unique opportunity to not only prevent combos but potentially build her own if needed.

Creature Combos

Since running this deck I ran into a new problem that I felt could be addressed. Commanders like Yawgmoth, Thran Physician and card: Taisgur, The Golden Fang started appearing in our meta and there wasn't much I could do. I had a Sentinel Totem but decided I needed some more options given the threat. I also added cards like Grafdigger's Cage and my favorite, Tormod's Crypt as well as some others for redundancy as I wanted to reserve my tutor creatures to get game winning artifacts.

Winning the Game

Including paths for my own combo's but relying mostly on assembling a voltron beat down engine, I wanted flexibility with win conditions and so far this deck has won with wildly different flavors.

Darksteel Plate + Worldslayer can create a hilarious wipe, just keep swinging for the wipe and win.

Assemble Aetherflux Reservoir + Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter and/or steal the parts you need. If you happen to have everything but dramatic reversal, if you have Knowledge Exploitation in hand you may get one from that opposing blue player, or grab something else depending on the situation. You will almost always cast it for it's prowl cost, I wish I could bring that CMC down...

Closing Up

Thada works efficiently to shut down blue combo decks. In a lot of matches you may be seen as a hero and go relatively unopposed if you make your plans known that you'll be going after the combo player. Depending on how crafty you are, you could assemble your own combo while crippling another before the other players wise-up. You won't have many hitters on the battlefield so playing politics with the creature decks in the game can really keep you from getting overwhelmed. If you are able to land a late-game Cyclonic Rift you can usually out-pace one or two players before they rebuild. Another advantage I've found is the ability to politic and hit a willing volunteer to fetch a card that might help the whole board. In our case it was a graveyard hate artifact that we needed.

Updates Add

Hey everybody! I wanted to track some changes I made to this deck as I encountered new problems. Luckily, this deck was so successful at shutting down the Urza/Emry combo deck they elected to not play it at all. Enter Yawgmoth. Now Yawgmoth's combo is a lot different, so to combat his seemingly unanswered creature graveyard combos, I elected to add some artifacts and spells to help with some graveyard hate. This should potentially make Thada effective against both play styles without sacrificing her own win conditions. I also added some better counter spells and selected the two planeswalkers I want to run.
