Operation Bling

Signed in hand: 78/100

On the way: 86/100

The Goal

What do you do with a deck you'll never take apart? Get every card signed, of course! My goal is not only to get every card signed, but the coolest version signed. My preferences are original art/border over anything, then first foil printing if there is one. Old bordered promos can trump my original border preference.

Examples:

Imperial Seal > Imperial Sealfoil, original border is preferred

Force of Will > Force of Willfoil, original art over anything

Dark Confidantfoil > Dark Confidantfoil, because I like the old border promos

Scalding Tarnfoil > Scalding Tarnfoil because while the old borders are cool, it doesn't have the same "old border promo" feel

Rob Alexander

Rob signs at live events and through the mail, I'm waiting until I can get everything signed at the same time live

Bloodstained Mirefoil

Demonic Consultation - OWNED

Flooded Strandfoil

Godless Shrinefoil - OWNED

Hallowed Fountainfoil

Polluted Deltafoil

Underground Sea

Watery Gravefoil - OWNED

Anthony S. Waters

Signs through Mark Aronowitz

Windswept Heathfoil

Paul Scott Canavan

Signs through Matthew Schneider, not sure when he will sign next

Force of Negationfoil - OWNED

Difficult Signatures

Imperial Seal - Li Tie has signed through Buzz City Games once, a second signing is coming up in late 2021/early 2022. I'm not buying this until WotC reprints it. UPDATE: omg they reprinted it! I'm now hunting for an English P3K copy :)

Spellseekerfoil - Igor Kieryluk signs through Ilya, next signing is delayed due to the sanctions against Russia. Turnaround time can be significant

Talisman of Progressfoil - Mike Dringenberg signed around 2013 at conventions, but is incredibly hard to get a hold of now. These do exist, but in low numbers

Combo Lines

The Combo:

Doomsday is a powerful 1-card combo that tutors for 5 different cards. Ideally, you should try to win the turn you cast this spell, so here is a line-up of some of the most efficient 5-card piles (Top to Bottom):

Doomsday

The Safe Pile

Gush, Gitaxian Probe, Ponder, Thassa's Oracle, Cavern of Souls

Cast Gush. Cast Gitaxian Probe and Ponder. Play Cavern of Souls as your land, cast Thassa's Oracle off of it with no cards in library. This pile lets you keep your hand and makes Thassa's Oracle uncounterable with Cavern of Souls. It also makes the Oracle immune to spot removal because there will be no cards left in your library on cast.

Sensei's Divining Top Opener

Gush, Brainstorm, Thassa's Oracle, Cavern of Souls, Lotus Petal

Use Sensei's Divining Top to draw Gush, Top goes to library. Gush into Sensei's Divining Top and Brainstorm. Cast Brainstorm, drawing Thassa's Oracle, Cavern of Souls, Lotus Petal and putting back the 2 Islands from Gush. Play Cavern of Souls, cast Lotus Petal, cast Thassa's Oracle off Cavern and Petal with 2 cards left in library. The Lotus Petal can be replaced with Pact of Negation if you have enough mana, and Cavern of Souls can be swapped for Mox Diamond, Chrome Mox, or similar.

Necropotence in Play

Gush, Thassa's Oracle, Pact of Negation, Anything, Anything

Gush into Thassa's Oracle and Pact of Negation. Activate Necropotence twice to have zero cards in library, then cast Thassa's Oracle. Pact of Negation can be anything, and the other two cards can be interaction if you want to wait a turn before going off.

Other Stuff to Know

Remember that while Cavern of Souls is great, your opponents can still counter your Gush or even the opening cantrip. It's usually wise to stock up on interaction or resolving Silence before going for a Doomsday win.

The Combo:

Ad Nauseam combined with Angel's Grace or Phyrexian Unlife (which can be searched up with Zur the Enchanter) allows you to put your entire library into your hand. Your life total will become -100 or so, so make sure you win that turn!

Ad Naus

After your library is in your hand:

Cast any fast mana such as Mox Diamond, Chrome Mox, Lotus Petal, and Mana Crypt

Cast Thassa's Oracle + draw spell

If you don't have Thassa's Oracle:

Casting Windfall twice will deck your opponents.

Cast any fast mana such as Mox Diamond, Chrome Mox, Lotus Petal, and Mana Crypt

Start with Silence and Angel's Grace to stay alive if you haven't already

Brainstorm with empty library putting Snapcaster Mage and Lion's Eye Diamond on top

Cast Windfall from your hand, opponents draw ~70 cards, you draw Snapcaster Mage and Lion's Eye Diamond, staying alive because of Angel's Grace

Cast Lion's Eye Diamond, then Snapcaster Mage holding priority. Crack LED for

Cast Windfall from your graveyard, opponents will draw ~70 more.

edit: Helm no longer part of the list, but leaving this here in case it makes it's way back in.

The Combo:

With a Rest in Peace in play, Helm of Obedience reads: ": Exile target opponent's library"

Helm

Rest in Peace creates a replacement effect that causes the cards milled by Helm of Obedience to never hit the graveyard. Even when activated for , the condition on Helm of Obedience will never be satisfied.

RULES NOTE: If the opponent has a card like Blightsteel Colossus in their deck, the game does NOT end in a draw. Your opponent has the choice between putting Blightsteel Colossus into exile (stopping the loop) or shuffling it back into their library (causing Helm of Obedience to continue looping). Eventually, the opponent MUST choose to put Blightsteel Colossus into exile to break the loop.

The Combo:

Casting Demonic Consultation naming a card that is not in your deck will exile your own library.

Helm

Demonic Consultation + Thassa's Oracle is an easy way to sneak in a quick win. It can also be used as a tutor in a pinch, but don't use it to find Ad Nauseam or Doomsday; you'll end up exiling a combo piece.

Demonic Consultation can tutor for Helm of Obedience or Rest in Peace if the other is in hand, but should not be used to find Ad Nauseam pieces. You might exile the other combo pieces along the way.

Card Choices

The number of lands in this version of Doomsday Zur is higher than you normally see. This is due to my own meta containing a lot of heavy Land Destruction decks like The Gitrog Monster.

Phyrexian Unlife: Some versions of the build have utilized Angel's Grace as the only combo piece for Ad Nauseam. In my own experience, having a redundant piece that can be tutored with Zur the Enchanter is incredibly valuable in multiplayer games.

Helm of Obedience: This back-up win condition takes up only a single slot, since Rest in Peace is a card you should run even without the combo potential.

My version of Zur the Enchanter is more controlling than the other versions of the deck. As such, some fast mana cards you'd typically see are absent.

Yawgmoth's Will: Doomsday just doesn't need this card to work anymore. I hardly ever used it outside the combo since there aren't very many rituals in the list.

Helm of Awakening: I have found this card unnecessary to win with Ad Nauseam and not very good outside it

High Tide: Also unnecessary, and again, Land Destruction-heavy meta

Timetwister: I don't own one. The deck doesn't need it though, this is a more controlling list than it is storm. It has certainly lost some power now that Hullbreacher is banned.

Grim Monolith: I could see this making it's way in. Casts Ad Nauseam and mana rocks pretty well, but not great for holding up countermagic. Blue mana is usually the bottleneck for protecting combos.

Imperial Seal: Should be in the deck, and was in the deck. But then it went to $500 and I sold mine :) Once it is reprinted it'll make it back into the list. UPDATE! It got reprinted! Back in the list it goes
