Sideboard

Artifact (2)

Maybeboard

You're probably asking yourself why don't you just run Sidisi? It has a lot of similar cards, a similar game plan and is almost always guaranteed to win t3-5 if it's not interacted with. The answer is simple; utility. He's a beater who can get bigger, he synergies with himself; he has life-link so he can mitigate the damage you take from spells, and he offers excellent acceleration. Tutoring is amazing but vomiting your hand developing a board presence the turn your commander comes down has more impact. Also, there's more lines of attack and threat diversity.

Doomsday Pile

Have your commander out

Outside of infernal contract being on top order doesn't matter.

1) Infernal Contract

2) Sacrifice ; if you have 3 extra mana and 8 life to spare you won't need to cast this. However, if you don’t, you'll need to sacrifice your commander so you can cast Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Viscera Seer .

3) Walking Ballista - it will keep dying and coming back; just remove the counter and ping players out.

4) Mikaeus, the Unhallowed

5) Viscera Seer - you'll need this to sacrifice the ballista because with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed out your Walking Ballista gets +1/+1 so when you remove the counter it won't die.

Infinite mana outlets

1) Walking Ballista

2) Exsanguinate

3) Torment of Hailfire

Infinate mana combo

Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth

This only generates infinate colorless mana; you'd still need to be able to produce 2 black mana to be able to kill table with exsanguinate or torment of Hailfire.

Aetherflux reservoir line

1) play Aetherflux Reservoir

2) play Bolas's Citadel

3) play Sensei's Divining Top

4) use Top's ability to draw a card; top goes to the top of your deck

5) use Bolas's Citadel to play top; gain 1 life from Aetherflux Reservoir and lose a life from citadel.

6) Rinse and repeat and kill table. Every time you play sensei's top you're gaining more life than you're losing and eventually you'll gain enough to use aetherflux reservoir burn people for 50.

Leshrac's sigil

You've probably seen this on at least a couple deck lists it has a very cool interaction with Aetherflux Reservoir and our commander. There's quite a bit of math involved because there's a lot of losing and gaining but I'll try to break it down as easily as I can.

The math

It will cost us 8 life for each cast and return. Once we're able to cast this spell and gain 8 life per cast we have a combo. The absolute minimum amount of life we can start this loop with just K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth + Aetherflux Reservoir + Leshrac's Sigil is 37. If anyone knows who discovered this combo please leave a comment so I can credit them.

37-8+1=30

30-8+2=24

24-8+3=19

19-8+4=15

15-8+5=12

12-8+6=10

10-8+7=9

9-8+8=9

Chainer Combo

Have the following on the battlefield

1) Chainer, Dementia Master

2) K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth

3) Viscera Seer

4) Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Sacrifice Gray Merchant of Asphodel to vescera seer then activate chainer, dementia master this will cost 9 life reanimate Gray Merchant of Asphodel and when Gary enters opponents will lose 8 life each and you will gain 24 life meaning you net gain 16 per activation.

Blood Celebrant + K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth essentially makes a Treasonous Ogre for black mana.

Reanimate + Vilis, Broker of Blood will draw you 8 cards; when he enters the battlefield his static ability will trigger.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Viscera Seer + Walking Ballista only costs 8 life and 3 mana for infinate damage

1) Cuombajj Witches - offers 2 devotion and is excellent for pinging off annoying mana dorks.

2) Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet - lifelink and graveyard hate and he can get bigger; it'd be wrong not to include this vampire.

3) Leyline of the Void - in cedh you need to be able to deal with hulk decks and Gitrog decks; this is the earliest interaction you can have if it's in your opening hand.

4) Massacre Wurm - helps deal with those pesky swarm decks and may help kill off a player or 2.

5) Pestilence - great for sweeping boards of tiny creatures and can be a good mana sync

6) Vilis, Broker of Blood - removes small things and draws cards and is a 8/8 flyer.

7) Strip Mine / Ghost Quarter - some lands are problematic and just need destroying.

8) Bloodhusk Ritualist -can strip resources from control players with it's kicker; at the cost of 2 life per card if we have our commander out.

9) Walking Ballista - even outside of the combo this card is an absolute powerhouse

10) Withered Wretch - you absolutely need graveyard hate in Cedh. Additionally, the 2 devotion is nice.

11) Toxic Deluge - sometimes you don't want to kill your creatures but you want to sweep the annoying little elves or goblins. This is a flexible wrath that isn't a huge mana investment. It goes great in just about any black deck.

12) Dismember - sometimes you just need to get certain commanders off the board and this is a cheap way to do it.

13) Force of Despair -being able to interact with no mana is amazing. Don't sleep on this card.

14) Scavenger Grounds - you guessed it more graveyard hate

1) Ad Nauseam - the cmc of the deck is too high and if we have enough life to draw our deck we're probably in a winning position anyways; that's not to say that this card isn't powerful but it just doesn't fit this build.

2) Triskelion 6 cmc is too high for a card that's only good for ending the game. Walking Ballista is just better and more versatile.

3) Phyrexian Arena - 1 card per 1 life is a great trade off but this is too slow for what we're trying to accomplish. Necropotece Vilis, Broker of Blood and Bolas's Citadel are all far better draw engines. Space is limited and we only want to play the cards with the highest impact. Waiting isn't what we want to be doing.

4) Tendrils of Agony - we have the ability to cast multiple spells a turn but we're not a storm deck. This card is powerful just not a good fit in this build. It's a win more card because if we can cast spells infinitely chances are we're already going to win; though I'll still be testing more to see if it performs better with some tweaking.

1) Cabal Coffers - makes tons of mana bases on swamp count

2) Vesuva - 99.9% of the time you'll copy Cabal Coffers and make tons more mana

3) Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - makes a ton of mana but is based on devotion not on swamp count

4) Deserted Temple - can untap any of the lands mentioned prior and help make even more mana!

5) Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - turns all of our lands into swamps; now our colorless lands can make black and our cabal coffers just got loads better

1) Aetherflux Reservoir - helps stabilize our life total and acts as a win condition.

2) Bolas's Citadel -excellent card advantage and a great way to chug through the deck

3) Crucible of Worlds - this card plays very nicely with Strip Mine , Ghost Quarter , Inventors' Fair and fetch lands; which are for thinning and consistency.

4) Manifold Key - upgraded Voltaic Key that can allow our commander to swing in with no resistance. That's pretty good.

5) Expedition Map -early game we're probably getting Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth or one of the tech lands. Late game we're most likely getting Cabal Coffers

The rest of the artifacts are primarily there just for acceleration.

8/23 - changed the name of the deck to "K'rrik citadel" primarily because we utilize bolas's citadel to win more so than doomsday; the doomsday combo is still in the deck but this title better reflects what the decks main goal is.

8/25 - updated the land base. Added fetches. We're trying to be as consistent as possible and fetches help. Additionally, fetches work well with Bloodghast and Crucible of Worlds

You've probably noticed there is a reanimator sub-theme in this deck with Buried Alive and the numerous reanimate effects. Additionally, we have entomb but that's more of a for value play. We've been over most creatures and their utility in the deck but I felt it may be cool to go over some situations that may arise.

1) Sidisi, Undead Vizier - is a creature with Diabolic Intent built in. Typically, you'd want to reanimate this creature if you needed a non-creature spell to win or an outlet for infinate mana.

2) Gray Merchant of Asphodel - this card is excellent for stabilizing your life total or killing table if your devotion is high enough.

3) Vilis, Broker of Blood - just an excellent everything in this deck. Draw engine, removal, and he's a huge beater. This would more than likely be the prime target if you can only reanimate one thing. With our commander out though is when he really starts to shine being able to pay his cost with life is absolutely disgusting. He'll demand an answer.

4) Crypt Ghast and Nirkana Revenant - you have a limited amount of life so sometimes you're gunna need to play fair and pay with actual mana. However, these 2 cards help it not feel as bad by doubling mana produced by swamps.
