Overall, this deck is a fairly traditional U/W Stax-Combo deck--where it differs, however, is its ability to become an aggressive deck if the situation requires. While the main battleplan is to win through one of the deck's combos, even if the infinite combos are shut down, the large number of rocks can be used to pump Kangee so you can swing for fairly large amounts of flying damage.

For the combos, the deck focuses on utilizing classic infinite combos such as Dramatic Reversal and Isochron Scepter , Grim Monolith or Basalt Monolith with Power Artifact , and Basalt Monolith and Rings of Brighthearth to generate infinite mana, which can be used to pump Kangee, Aerie Keeper 's ability, or funneled into alternate win conditions, such as Finale of Revelation with Laboratory Maniac , Urza, Lord High Artificer , or Mindshrieker . Rest in Peace and Helm of Obedience are also run, given Rest in Peace 's strong ability to function as a hate card.

Though a tribal commander, this deck runs relatively few birds, focusing instead on quality of the birds rather than quantity--the Stax theme ensures you have slowed the game down to a sufficient point where you'll likely have drawn a bird or two by the time you are ready to swing. Aven Mindcensor is an all-star, and rightfully deserves its place in any Stax-based list. Gilt-next Crane digs four deep for one of your combo pieces, leaving behind a body Kangee can later pump. Mindshrieker provides an outlet for infinite mana in its own right, and can turn into a beater should Kangee hit the field in a situation where infinite combos seem unobtainable. Cloudchaser Kestrel and Judge's Familiar provide a bit of extra protection on bodies. Commander Eesha is the only bird lacking a secondary function, but its protection from creatures makes her invaluable as a blocker and unblockable finisher.
