RAMP Show

The ramp for this deck is a mix of mana dorks Elvish Mystic, Avacyn's Pilgrim, mana rocks Simic Signet, Mind Stone, Azorius Signet, ETB land tutor dorks Wood Elves, District Guide, Oreskos Explorer as well as green ramp spells Rampant Growth and Circuitous Route. I wanted to diversify the spell base some plus it let me have my pick of the cheapest cards price-wise. Given the budget, I've been pretty pleased with how quickly and consistently the deck gets mana into play. District Guide and Circuitous Route being able to fetch guildgates is an important point to keep in mind as a budget deck tends to struggle with color fixing.

Bounty of the Luxa also provides a mana boost every other turn. Splurged with the budget to add Scattered Groves and Irrigated Farmland, shocklands they ain't, but a couple of the ramp cards state 'plains' or 'forest' making these 2 lands legal targets to tutor up. |

FIEND HUNTER & LEONIN RELIC-WARDER Show

While both of these cards fall into the 'comes into play, exiles X until leaves play' category, the two effects are separate triggers allowing for some exile shenanigans. If you put the first trigger on the stack and then flicker or bounce them in response, the exile effect is permanent as the card is no longer in play when the second trigger occurs.

REASONABLE UPGRADES Show

The first area I would address is upgrading the mana base by swapping in checklands for the crappy gain 1 life taplands: OUT-Graypelt Refuge, IN-Sunpetal Grove and OUT-Thornwood Falls, IN-Hinterland Harbor.

The very first non-land upgrade I would pursue would be to add Panharmonicon, probably taking out either Aid from the Cowl or Angelic Chorus.

NOTE: The deck actually runs Man-o'-War in the slot showing Exclusion Mage but since Tapped Out is dinging the deck -7% competitive rating for the Man-o'-War, I'm leaving the Mage in there for the nonce.

Sadly I've had to cut good cards to keep the cost under $50. The popularity of EDH has caused some of the cards I first included such as Sol Ring to keep rising in price [went from under $2.50 to over $4]. This is the real Commander Tax.

2/16/19- Removed Vizier of the Menagerie due to increasing price on this card, added Duskwatch Recruiter   to serve the same function.

3/9/19- Removed Farseek as it is climbing up towards $3 and replaced with Sylvan Ranger as well as cutting Strionic Resonator for Azorius Signet and Swiftfoot Boots for Selesnya Signet
