Baral, Chief of Compliance + Thing in the Ice   to cast low drop spells that prevent you from dying like Repel the Abominable.

Torrential Gearhulk is used for flashing back instants, to either counter things or to prevent damage.

Counterspells: Negate Disallow Spell Shrivel Dispel and Revolutionary Rebuff help stop what they're trying to do and allow you to get card draw on their turn off of Baral, Chief of Compliance .

White interaction: Blessed Alliance allows you to interact with them attacking or simple life gain.

Fumigate clears the board. Replace it with Baral's Expertise or Crush of Tentacles

Anticipate allows you to search for counters or other useful spells.

Jace, Unraveler of Secrets is the logical planeswalker for this deck as he allows scry/card draw, removing creatures temporarily from the field (perhaps so you can counter them) and if you're lucky a game shutdown.

Glimmer of Genius is amazing for card draw, especially when with Baral. It lowers the cost by one and can go well with Thing in the Ice   by lowering the ice counters on it. Flash it back with Torrential Gearhulk for more giggles.

Sideboard: Baral's Expertise and Crush of Tentacles are for decks that put out a lot of annoying stuff and are softer board resets than fumigate.

Authority of the Consuls slows down decks and gains you life, two things you need

Dispel is to counter instants in a counter battle.

Declaration in Stone is targeted removal.

Consulate Crackdown is a great O-ring for any artifact heavy decks including vehicles.

Dovin Baan can replace Jace if needed.

Repel the Abominable stops non-human damage including vehicles and burn spells (oh and other things that aren't human).

Stasis Snare is good for instant removal of dangerous creatures.
