Athreos, God of Passage is here with his shiny Secret Lair art, and he brought along his Apostle groupies to make sure the party gets crazy.

The deck is something I’ve been wanting to mess around with for a long while and I finally pulled the trigger to put it all together. Athreos as a commander is something I’ve been itching to finally get around to using, mostly to see how far I can exploit his ability to either get my creatures back to my hand or punish my opponents by forcing them to take damage to keep them in the graveyard. There’s a few different win conditions in the deck. Firstly, we can tutor up for anything we need with Razaketh, the Foulblooded, so we can grab Ob Nixilis, Unshackled, make him huge by sacrificing a lot of Shadowborn Apostles, and just slam face with him. Other win conditions include going wide with numerous demons, as well as chipping out our enemies through our sac outlets. Blood Artist + Shadowborn Apostle /Bastion of Remembrance + Shadowborn Apostle makes for an easy way to ensure our opponents are constantly taking damage while we find any demon we could possibly need, while Dictate of Erebos + Grave Pact ensure the board remains free of anything crazy. Tendrils of Agony can also storm off after a big sac turn and outright kill someone. I’m currently trying Bastion of Remembrance over Zulaport Cutthroat as, in my meta at least, it’s easier for enchantments to stick around than creatures, but your mileage may vary.
