Free House For You, Jim Show

We're giving you land.

It's Free.

We're giving you a house.

It's Free.

It's Real Estate.

Free.

This IS free real estate.

Now that you're primed and ready to go, let's get down to the nitty gritty of this deck list. On the surface this is a value ramp deck that uses Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle to finish off opponents that have been left weakened by our traditional lands finishers. But let's dig deeper into the strange mana base and various options the deck has.

You Unlock the Door to Your Free House

Our fetches are the most critical part of the mana base and enable us to run over 50% of the mana base as a mountain, vs a list with only 5 red mana symbols in casting costs. Valakut is the reason for this lopsided mana base, and since that's our main way of finishing a game we want to support it as much as possible. So early, we want to fetch out one of our Forest duals, and try to get as quickly as possible. The reason is that we want green sources to continue ramping, black for removal, and red to cast Lord Windgrace. Windgrace works perfectly with a largely fetch mana base. When you cast him, you can immediately -3 to return 2 fetches to the battlefield. This way, he can be cast on the next turn should he be removed before you get to start generating value off his +2. If you feel confident in keeping him around until your next turn, feel free to shift towards drawing and setting up for your win conditions.

I'm Not Carrying This Around All Day!

Outside of fetches and duals, we've got a handful of the most powerful lands in MtG. Bojuka Bog gives us a reusable anti-graveyard effect for those pesky reanimator/value decks, City of Traitors combos incredibly well with Lord Windgrace, with some plays including 2 activations of the land to produce 4 mana thanks to bringing it back with his -3. Urborg-Cabal Coffers combo is included because of how easy it is to get it online in this deck, as well as providing mana for big sinks like Genesis Wave or Exsanguinate. Strip Mine, with extra land play effects like Oracle of Mul Daya and effects like Crucible of Worlds, enables us to have a subtle stax package if needed, but also allows us to choose not to use it if we don't want to lose friends. Thespian's Stage and Vesuva allow us to copy our powerful effects, with the most common target being our Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle because once we've got the land online, we get get to turn every ramp spell into multiple lightning bolts, as well as turning Windgrace's -3 into at least 2 Bolts.

Jim, Come Get Your Damn Land

Our win conditions are fairly traditional for a #landsmatters deck. Omnath, Titania, Protector of Argoth,Avenger of Zendikar and Worm Harvest provide us with large numbers of tokens and beaters to reduce the life totals of our disinterested real estate clients. Valakut provides us the reach needed to finish off anyone that survives our initial onslaught. In addition, we have some big mana spells such as G-Wave and Exsanguinate to take advantage of our ramp and lands. Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre provides us with much needed reach in the form of a shuffle effect, an indestructible creature, removal, and the annihilator effect to reduce our opponent's real estate to rubble.

You Gotta Bring Furniture, But The House Is Free!

There are many cards that allow us to use, reuse, and find just the lands we need in any situation. Squandered Resources, Zuran Orb, Constant Mistsand Aggressive Mining allow us to turn our lands into other resources, as well as provide us the opportunity to reuse them. Price of Glory also provides us with breathing room from control decks, destroying any lands that are tapped during our turn for dreaded counterspells or removal. On the other hand, however, we can also use Price of Glory to destroy our own lands in response to potential exile effects, or for simple value with good ETB effects, or to enable Dakmor Salvage combo with The Gitrog Monster.

No Rugs!

The rest of the deck is rounded out with removal and protection to prevent squatters from interrupting our plans. Ensnaring Bridge in particular is an all-star in this deck, because in mid-late game we should be grinding through our value engine at a fast pace leaving us with few cards in hand.

I hope you enjoyed this list as much as I enjoyed creating it, I appreciate any and all feedback because I'm still testing and adjusting. And hey,
