Roalesk, Apex Hybrid EDH

The Two-Part Plan

Opener - INFECT

  • Play aggressively with infect, and plant poison counters on all opponents.

Follow Up - CLONE & PROLIFERATE

Clones

  1. Infect creatures we use are cheap, to provide a aggressive early game that facilitates the aforementioned interaction. Unfortunately, their usefulness decreases as the game goes on. Eventually, our opponents will have more threatening creatures than our own.

  2. With Roalesk, Apex Hybrid plus the legend rule, every clone effect that targets Roalesk becomes "Put two +1/+1 counters on any creature you control, then proliferate twice". After planting poison counters on everyone, we can use this interaction to win.

  3. In cases where the opponents' creatures are far better than ours, clone the opponents' creatures to stabilize. Coversely, use Roalesk's pump effect to help the infect creatures tie up loose ends.

  4. With the 2 previous points, clone effects are offensive and defensive options in the deck.
